DIESEL Hits & Blues National Tour October/November 2009

Diesel   In the great blues tradition of his ‘Short Cool Ones’ (the 1996 Gold-selling ARIA Award nominated blues album from diesel and Chris Wilson), Diesel has returned to his roots to produce one of his most roundly applauded and critically acclaimed albums in an already stellar career: ‘Project Blues – Saturday Suffering Fools’

No one saw Diesel’s ‘Project Blues’ album coming but it’s been unanimously reviewed as a knockout. And now, just to kick things up another notch, Diesel and his band announce the ‘Hits & Blues 2009’ Tour.

We All Want To! @ Brisbane Powerhouse, each friday during September 2009

We All Want To!   They’re fresh, they’re free and they’re moving in. WE ALL WANT TO

In 2007 Tim Steward, from Brisbane’s Screamfeeder, released a solo album and put a band together to play the songs live. Two years later they had written a whole set of new material and needed a new name. WE ALL WANT TO was born. All members swap instruments frequently which makes for a chaotic – but fun – live show.

Venue: Brisbane Powerhouse – Turbine Platform
Cost: FREE

The Lucksmiths (Farewell Show) w/ Darren Hanlon @ The Zoo, Brisbane 23 August 2009

The Lucksmiths   Underground pop battlers The Lucksmiths are serving notice. Yes, sadly, it’s true. Times change, people move on, and like many of their songs — redolent with ordinary minutiae — The Lucksmiths have finally been conquered by everyday life.

Formed in 1993, and having since transcended musical fashions and movements, the Melbourne band have long been seen as refreshingly unique amongst the musical landscape; their live shows, often hilariously haphazard, continue to captivate audiences at home and around the world, while they remain fond favourites of many who came across the band in their formative years.

Interview: Hot Little Hands lead singer Tim Harvey chats with Elize Strydom about touring, singing Japanese…

Hot Little Hands   Interview: Elize Strydom

Hot Little Hands are hard to pigeon-hole, much to lead singer Tim Harvey’s delight. Take a little old soul, a generous helping of electro, four part harmonies and you’ve got…concrete/jungle/samba? Well, they are the genres the band checks on their Myspace page, anyway. Perhaps you’ll just have to see ‘em live and draw your own conclusions.

Life Music Media (LMM): You’re fresh from a tour of New Zealand. How did it go?

Tim Harvey (TH): It was amazing. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it so much. The countryside is mind blowing and the people are gorgeous and so friendly. We played about seven shows. We were kind of freaked out because the first night we got there we played a party and the band that went on before us, when they finished a song, nothing would happen, no one would clap. It was really weird! But when we got on the claps started filtering through.

Live Review | Dukes Of Windsor & Trial Kennedy’s @ The Zoo, 8 August 2009

Dukes Of Windsor & Trial Kennedy’s @ The Zoo, 8 August 2009
By José Eduardo Cruz

Dukes Of WindsorTonight, The Trial Kennedy displayed a level of professionalism that made them the shining star of the night. Firstly, they had to temporarily replace their drummer due to the fact that their original drummer had contracted chicken pox a few days prior. The fill in drummer learnt an entire 45 minute set within one day which, was an amazing achievement given the structure of their songs. He powered Trial Kennedy through their set with 20 inch crashes and an Australian made drum set. Secondly, after their first song their bass amp blew up and had to be fixed on stage before they could proceed. In the interim, their vocalist proceeded with an acoustic song until the amp could be fixed and they could proceed. Even with a shorten set; Trial Kennedy worked their every bit of energy to showcase their music. These guys are in the process of recording their second release and this should see them headline their own set of shows in the not so distant future.
