Widely tipped for greatness (some prophecies come true!) after their successful sophomore release, ‘Ascendancy’ in 2005, Kerrang! declared it “the most skull-peeling collection of pulverising metal grooves and fretboard annihilation you’ll hear in a long time.” Four studio albums later, TRIVIUM are continuing their climb towards metal greatness with the release of their new album, ‘Vengeance Falls’. “Drawing together crunchy riffs, snarling vitriol, blistering shred-fests and stadium sized choruses it ticks all the boxes.” – Alternative Press

Arguably one of the most successful heavy metal bands around today, Disturbed have sold over 11 million albums globally and are one of only three bands in music history to have four consecutive releases debut at #1 on the US Billboard Top 200 album chart.
Since the band’s formation fifteen years ago, Disturbed have had three Platinum albums in Australia and a strong fourth contender in their latest offering Asylum which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart and #1 on New Zealand’s RIANZ Album Chart upon its release in August.

|For the many festival’s we’ve attentively followed in the last year or so, I hope I’m not going to cop to much backlash for saying that Soundwave is now, pretty much, the festival to be at, particularly if you indulge in music of the ah, heavier nature. They’ve marked their territory well, and will be hard to compete with in coming years after continually displaying such high levels of organization and forward planning, with larger than life line ups to match, last year|
featuring headliners Nine in Nails, and Alice in Chains, this year the newly reunited outfits Jane’s Addiction and of course, Faith No More.
Ticket sales at the door had prices marked up by over 50 dollars from the original price, but it didn’t see people back away from the queue. With a line up like today’s, I wouldn’t have been backing away from those prices either, had I’d have been stupid enough, not to buy a ticket during one of the previous releases.
Walking the streets of Brisbane’s fortitude valley on the morning of the event is galvanizing. The streets are flooded with waves of charismatic show goers of all age’s shapes and sizes. The crowd’s equal to what you may see before the opening day of the Ekka; Brisbane’s annual Royal show.
|MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel all upcoming engagements, including their appearance at The Soundwave Festival in Australia.
Singer Gerard Way has been having severe vocal problems and is under doctor’s advisement to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for his throat and vocal chords and protect their long-term use.
Metal masters Trivium are pleased to confirm a massive 16-date UK headline tour in March 2010, in support of current album Shogun. Special guests for the Into The Mouth Of Hell We Tour shows are currently being confirmed.
Singer/guitarist Matthew Heafy has this to say: “United Kingdom! As we said at Download, the UK was the first place in the world to truly embrace Trivium and make us feel like we had a home away from home on stage. The first several UK headline tours we did back in 2005 and 2006 were destructive, lethal and life-changing experiences we shared together: long sets… long tours… no frills, just our friends, our music and a good metal time. It’s been a very long time since we’ve done a full blown, multi-date headlining UK tour… and man have we missed it. We mentioned at Download that it would be a while till we would return… and 2010 is just about that time. We’re coming back with a vengeance and we’re bringing some friends and we’re playing some of our favourite venues. We hope to see you there!”
|After fifteen years, six studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, few will argue that PLACEBO are among the world’s great rock bands. For the first time in three years the guys will be bringing their swag of hits to the Soundwave stages in 2010.|
ANTHRAX redefined metal in the ’80s, stressing anger, speed, and emotional intensity over big hair and power ballads. After a stunning performance at the Sonisphere festival a huge campaign was waged by the fans to get John Bush back on vocals. We can proudly announce that John will indeed be fronting Anthrax for their Soundwave performances and this will surely have the bands faithful frothing at the mouth!

One of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the pyramids have baffled archaeologists as to how those huge chunks of rock were assembled together some 2500 years ago.
|Following its most successful year, we are hoping that in years from now, folks will look at the 2010 Soundwave line‐up and wonder how so much ROCK from around the world was assembled together in 5 cities across Australia.
