By Scott Singh
Soundwave Day 1
With a new format and a festival spanning the entirety of a weekend, it was time for day 1 of Sydney’s Soundwave to kick off. Being Australia’s premier rock experience, Sydney Olympic Park was filled with black cladded fans and an assortment of coloured hair and accessories. It was from the moment the gates opened that fans rushed in with pure excitement as they scoped out the grounds and prepared themselves for the intensity of the weekend.

FAITH NO MORE return with their first new album since 1997 | North American tour sold out
Sol Invictus, Faith No More’s highly anticipated follow-up to Album of the Year, arrives on May 15 via Reclamation Recordings/Ipecac Recordings/ [PIAS].
“What I can say is that I think through our experience as musicians over the years, I think what we’re doing reflects where we’ve gone since we made our last record as Faith No More. I think this kicks things up a notch,” explained Bill Gould in a recent Rolling Stone interview. “And I think there’s parts that are very powerful and there’s parts that have a lot of “space.” Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play; it’s always going to sound like us. It’s just what we do, that makes us feel good. “

Interview with Matt Young – King Parrot
Interview by Stuart Blythe
We caught up with KING PARROT vocalist MATT YOUNG to chat about Soundwave Festival 2015, touring and the year ahead.
You’re playing at Soundwave 2015. What are you most looking forward to about the festival?
It’s always a good time playing on the big stages in front of festival audiences, and to be on a lineup with so many great bands is really an honour. We’ve also been in the US for most of the last 6 months, so I’m really looking forward to coming home to some good weather.

Mike Patton – “Mondo Cane” [CD Review]
Review: Ben Hosking
The prolific Mike Patton returns with a project unlike any that have come before it. Sung entirely in Italian, the album ‘Mondo Cane’ features a 40-piece orchestra, choir and band.
Listeners have had hints of Patton’s multi-lingual abilities in the last, such as tunes found on earlier Faith No More releases. However, ‘Mondo Cane’ sees the twisted genius using his talents to pay homage to other songwriters, including his beloved Morricone, who penned the track ‘Deep Down’. |

Soundwave Festival 20 February 2010, Brisbane
Live Review: Soundwave Festival 2010 – Brisbane
Review: Hannah Collins
featuring headliners Nine in Nails, and Alice in Chains, this year the newly reunited outfits Jane’s Addiction and of course, Faith No More.
Ticket sales at the door had prices marked up by over 50 dollars from the original price, but it didn’t see people back away from the queue. With a line up like today’s, I wouldn’t have been backing away from those prices either, had I’d have been stupid enough, not to buy a ticket during one of the previous releases.
Walking the streets of Brisbane’s fortitude valley on the morning of the event is galvanizing. The streets are flooded with waves of charismatic show goers of all age’s shapes and sizes. The crowd’s equal to what you may see before the opening day of the Ekka; Brisbane’s annual Royal show.

Soundwave 2010 – 2nd artist announcement
After fifteen years, six studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, few will argue that PLACEBO are among the world’s great rock bands. For the first time in three years the guys will be bringing their swag of hits to the Soundwave stages in 2010. |
ANTHRAX redefined metal in the ’80s, stressing anger, speed, and emotional intensity over big hair and power ballads. After a stunning performance at the Sonisphere festival a huge campaign was waged by the fans to get John Bush back on vocals. We can proudly announce that John will indeed be fronting Anthrax for their Soundwave performances and this will surely have the bands faithful frothing at the mouth!
Motion City Soundtrack, Shinedown, Set Your Goals, Enter Shikari and Closure In Moscow will also be joining the already massive bill.
