PLENDOUR IN THE GRASS – the annual, ephemeral city of sounds that exists solely for sweet music and good times will transform Woodfordia, near Woodford, south east Queensland from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July. The Woodfordia campgrounds will open from 7am Wednesday 27 July until 5pm Monday 1 August. Please note the entire festival site including the three main stages – Amphitheatre, Mix Up Stage and GW McLennan Tent – will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. For those camping onsite, the event area will open from 9am Thursday 28 July with a bunch of spaces and entertainment in full swing to keep you busy right across the weekend.
Due to the very heavy traffic congestion when arriving and departing SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS 2010 we have spent the past year working on initiatives that will simultaneously ease traffic on local roads and within Woodfordia, whilst also creating a greener event. Borrowing from other international music festivals that have experienced similar issues, and in an effort to radically reduce traffic congestion, we will be implementing a car pass system which will encourage carpooling. More info on this plan and all of SPLENDOURs environmental initiatives will be supplied in the coming weeks. Continue reading Splendour in the Grass 2011 – ‘Woodfordia’, QLD [Festival News]→

For the many festival’s we’ve attentively followed in the last year or so, I hope I’m not going to cop to much backlash for saying that Soundwave is now, pretty much, the festival to be at, particularly if you indulge in music of the ah, heavier nature. They’ve marked their territory well, and will be hard to compete with in coming years after continually displaying such high levels of organization and forward planning, with larger than life line ups to match, last year
featuring headliners Nine in Nails, and Alice in Chains, this year the newly reunited outfits Jane’s Addiction and of course, Faith No More.
Ticket sales at the door had prices marked up by over 50 dollars from the original price, but it didn’t see people back away from the queue. With a line up like today’s, I wouldn’t have been backing away from those prices either, had I’d have been stupid enough, not to buy a ticket during one of the previous releases.
Walking the streets of Brisbane’s fortitude valley on the morning of the event is galvanizing. The streets are flooded with waves of charismatic show goers of all age’s shapes and sizes. The crowd’s equal to what you may see before the opening day of the Ekka; Brisbane’s annual Royal show. Continue reading Live Review: Soundwave Festival 2010 – Brisbane→
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel all upcoming engagements, including their appearance at The Soundwave Festival in Australia.
Singer Gerard Way has been having severe vocal problems and is under doctor’s advisement to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for his throat and vocal chords and protect their long-term use.
After fifteen years, six studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, few will argue that PLACEBO are among the world’s great rock bands. For the first time in three years the guys will be bringing their swag of hits to the Soundwave stages in 2010.
ANTHRAX redefined metal in the ’80s, stressing anger, speed, and emotional intensity over big hair and power ballads. After a stunning performance at the Sonisphere festival a huge campaign was waged by the fans to get John Bush back on vocals. We can proudly announce that John will indeed be fronting Anthrax for their Soundwave performances and this will surely have the bands faithful frothing at the mouth!

One of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the pyramids have baffled archaeologists as to how those huge chunks of rock were assembled together some 2500 years ago.
Following its most successful year, we are hoping that in years from now, folks will look at the 2010 Soundwave line‐up and wonder how so much ROCK from around the world was assembled together in 5 cities across Australia.
For 2010 Soundwave have enticed one of rock’s all time legendary artists, FAITH NO MORE; and one of today’s most talented and intriguing bands, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE to top the bill. Joining them will be indie legends and festival kings JANES ADDICTION, the kings of dark punk AFI and one of the hottest bands in the world, PARAMORE.
