MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION FESTIVAL BRISBANE
HOSTED BY CITY HALL – 23 TO 28 AUGUST 2009

With the largest LCD screen assembled in Australia, showcases from national fashion giants Easton Pearson and Akira and huge international labels Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela from Camargue, the first Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane group show at City Hall will start the festival in style on Sunday 23 August.

Festival Director Lindsay Bennett said the prestigious parade demonstrated the success of the Festival as a way to reach Queensland’s designers, retailers and fashion consumers.

“In just four short years, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane, hosted by City Hall has already established itself as the most prestigious fashion event in this state and gained national recognition as being THE location for launching Spring/Summer collections to the country,” Mr Bennett said.

“This show is debuting two brand-new collections by top national designers previously not seen anywhere in the world and it’s selling extremely well.”

Opening the Soul by Juniper Group Show and hot on the heels of his new store at Ann St in Fortitude Valley, Akira Isagowa will showcase an Akira collection that has not been seen previously, with his beautifully ethereal pieces highly anticipated by fashionistas and media.

Celebrating its 31st birthday this year Brisbane retailer Camargue’s collection will excite and inspire with a stunning showcase from international labels Dries van Noten, Martin Margiela, Runholz, Sara Lanzi, Peachoo and Krejberg.

Brisbane designers Easton Pearson will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their label this year and guests at this Group Show will witness the unveiling of their 09/10 resort collection for the first time in Australia – also highly anticipated by national and local fashion media.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman will officially open the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane in its new home at City Hall before the Soul by Juniper Group Show and all guests are invited to the first night Rosemount O Bar After Party at the Sebel & Citigate King George Square across the road in Ann Street following the parade.
