Live Review : A Day To Remember + Tonight Alive + Issues at Adelaide Entertainment Centre – 13 December 2016

Review and photos by Peter Coates – Inside Edge Photography – for LifeMusicMedia.com
A Day To Remember at Adelaide Entertainment Centre - 13 December 2016 Photographer: Peter Coates
ISSUES kicked off the night with an enthusiastic performance for the growing crowd. Excellent tight drumming from Josh Manuel and a mammoth performance on bass from Skyler Acord built the platform for the twin vocals of Tyler Carter and Michael Bohn, who often displayed some high-quality R & B singing, with really clean, strong harmonies. There is a variety in the set list that covers extreme metalcore through to some progressive melodic metal, and the pop angle the band coined as ‘New Nu Metal’, which probably stems from the fact these guys have been doing their stuff for over 5 years, and we got a selection of material displaying their development, as well as from the new record, Headspace.

A DAY TO REMEMBER – Australian Tour 2016 – with guests OF MICE & MEN + TONIGHT ALIVE

adtr_
Sydney band TONIGHT ALIVE have been added to all dates on the forthcoming A DAY TO REMEMBER tour. These will be their first Australian shows since the release of their third album, Limitless, which was released in March and debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts.

Limitless has been a worldwide success, with the band making waves across Europe and North America this year including appearances at Warped Tour in the USA, and appearing on the cover of UK magazines Rock Sound and Kerrang. Earlier this year, they performed as one of the UNIFY 16 headliners and sold out their national single tour in January. In July, Tonight Alive vocalist Jenna McDougall collaborated with Parkway Drive on a new track called “Into The Dark”.

TONIGHT ALIVE will join an incredible line-up that also includes Californian metalcore act OF MICE & MEN, who are currently touring America with Slipknot and have their new album Cold World due out in September.

Meanwhile, A DAY TO REMEMBER continue to build massive anticipation for their forthcoming album Bad Vibrations (September 2) with the release of “Naivety,” the latest single to be released from their new record.

Live Review | Soundwave Festival 2014 – Brisbane

Review by Brandon Blythe
Green Day - photo by stuart blytheThe streets leading into Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds were flooded with excited fans eagerly waiting for the gates to open to this years Soundwave festival. As far as the eye can see were show goers of all age’s shapes and sizes proudly wearing their favourite band moniker or dressed in attention seeking costumes. The gates open, the crowd spills in and the day begins.

Our first stop was Amon Amarth who had been slated the very early 11am spot on Stage 4. The early start didn’t stop a league of loyal fans from packing the stage to see the Swedish melodic death metal band blasting out their best… Viking ship and all.

“Mon the Biff” – On Stage 1, Biffy Clyro gave everything they had and more! The shirtless, tattooed Scots rocking out a frantic set of favourites, fuelling the audience and setting a standard for the day ahead. Frontman Simon Neil captivatingly plays and sings and connects with the crowd. Ending on a high “We are Biffy f**king Clyro!“.

Interview with Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember

Interview: Billy Geary
With A Day To Remember set to hit the stages of Soundwave 2012 (along with a couple of sideshows), A Day To Remember singer Jeremy McKinnon took time out for a quick chat ahead of their Australian visit.

LMM: A Day To Remember has come to Australia quite a lot in the past few years. Is there anything in particular that makes you want to keep coming back?

Jeremy McKinnon: Australia was the first place that got it right away. It always feels like the people are more appreciative when we play in Australia as opposed to other countries.

LMM: When you last toured Australia in early 2011, you guys brought over a pretty big stage production, complete with beach balls and confetti.
Do you plan on bringing something on a similarly larger scale for Soundwave?
