Drawn from Bees “Fear Not” National Tour – July 2010

Arriving back to Australia after showcase performances for Musexpo and Music Matters across the UK, USA and Hong Kong, Drawn from Bees are about to jump right back on a plane to Sydney to embark on a national tour in support of their May 21 released album Fear Not The Footsteps Of The Departed.

Fear Not… is the band’s most multi-layered and complex release to date, juxtaposing Drawn from Bees’ most heartbreakingly beautiful songs with their most intellectual rock concepts and experimental soundscapes – sampling choirs and iPhones alike amongst almost spiritual laments of loss and love.

DAN PARSONS DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE & TOUR DATES

Dan Parsons’ debut album is less a case of boy meets girl but rather boy meets world. It’s a snapshot of someone who after spending his high school years emulating seventies heroes on a reel to reel eight track, leaves his bedroom and begins tumbling through one blinding, visceral experience after another.

What Parsons could grab hold of and pin down from experiences such as this, and his first brushes with the Brisbane music scene after growing up in country Queensland, inspired a drastic change to the primarily acoustic sounds that were on his 2008 mini-album Old Brown Shoe.

Gold coast Parklands once again played host to the Good Vibrations Festival and all its followers this February. The party had already begun before the gates opened; with crowds of revellers sipping away on their hip flasks and discussing their plans of attack for the day ahead.

With the gates open the party officially kicked off with a cruisy set from the aptly named Cool Calm Collective on the Roots stage. Continuing the relaxed start to the day were Tijuana Cartel on the main stage where a large crowd gathered, in all their costumed glory, to witness a set that evolved from an impressive acoustic flamenco demonstration to a full blown aussie hip-hop act. Such a diverse act couldn’t have been more appropriate for such a diverse and amped crowd; leaving everyone buzzing in anticipation for Bluejuice.

Nikon SuperGP: Winterbottom Reflects On Winning Weekend
