THE BLOODPOETS TO DANCE THEIR WAY AROUND THE COUNTRY!

TheThe Bloodpoets
Brisbane five-piece, The Bloodpoets, are once again hitting the road to take their new single ‘Dance’ to the masses – the first taste of the band’s forthcoming album due to be released later this year.

The Bloodpoets – Tom Murphy (Vocals & Guitars), Jason Marles (Lead Guitar), Jake Parker (Bass), Todd Orchard (Drums) and Bec Plath (Keys & Backing Vocals) – will tour the east coast: Brisbane, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney but not before playing to over 25,000 people at Suncorp Stadium with a performance to open the Brisbane Roar game on August 27 ? a major coup for the band.

Twelve months ago you wouldn’t have expected the Bloodpoets to be positioned where they are now with their new single ‘Dance’ which is an infusion of electronic beats heavily driven by riffs which Tom says is a step away from the band?s once chord-based tracks.

“‘Dance’ is characterised by these riffs, whereas previously we wrote a four-minute chord song, focusing on arrangements of instruments and vocal delivery” says singer/songwriter Tom Murphy.

“The writing process for Dance was different,” explains Murphy. “It was born during a jam between the drummer and me on an electric drum kit. Because of the sounds on the kit, we decided to muck around on a cheesy riff until we realised if it was on big guitars and a real drum kit it would be enormous”.

“Lyrically the song was based off how overwhelming it can be to see a good looking woman dance, so I tried to explore it in a smutty, yet a respectful way”.

The last 18 months for the Bloodpoets have been massive, releasing their debut album ‘Polarity’ which spawned two hit singles in the form of ‘Borderline’ and ‘Just In Time’, both of which received airplay on Triple M, Triple J and Channel V.

On the ‘Dance’ tour, the band will perform tracks from their 2009 debut album ‘Polarity’ but will be performing tracks from the band?s next album for the first time to road test the new direction. “We have had an extremely positive response to the new music and have heard people say that this is the type of music they thought The Bloodpoets would eventually reach in terms of style, but hopefully also in terms of potential”.
