Splendour in the Grass 2011 – ‘Woodfordia’, QLD [Festival News]

PLENDOUR IN THE GRASS – the annual, ephemeral city of sounds that exists solely for sweet music and good times will transform Woodfordia, near Woodford, south east Queensland from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July. The Woodfordia campgrounds will open from 7am Wednesday 27 July until 5pm Monday 1 August. Please note the entire festival site including the three main stages – Amphitheatre, Mix Up Stage and GW McLennan Tent – will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. For those camping onsite, the event area will open from 9am Thursday 28 July with a bunch of spaces and entertainment in full swing to keep you busy right across the weekend.

Due to the very heavy traffic congestion when arriving and departing SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS 2010 we have spent the past year working on initiatives that will simultaneously ease traffic on local roads and within Woodfordia, whilst also creating a greener event. Borrowing from other international music festivals that have experienced similar issues, and in an effort to radically reduce traffic congestion, we will be implementing a car pass system which will encourage carpooling. More info on this plan and all of SPLENDOURs environmental initiatives will be supplied in the coming weeks.

Artist applications open for Woodford Folk Festival 2011/12

WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL OPENS EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR ARTISTS

Expressions of interest are now open to Artists and Presenters for the 26th Woodford Folk Festival. Held annually between the 27th December and 1st January, the Woodford Folk Festival is one of Australia’s largest outdoor music events.

The festival invites interest from musicians, as well as artists, presenters and speakers for specialist programmes such as circus, vaudeville, the high profile environmental and health programmes, comedy, traditional folkloric, spoken word, workshops and visual arts.

Having endured their wettest year on record and sustained significant damage due to the Queensland floods, event producers the Queensland Folk Federation earlier announced that this year’s Woodford Folk Festival will feature a precinct dedicated to the prestigious International Indigenous festival, The Dreaming. Artists wishing to be a part of the Dreaming precinct can apply via the Woodford Folk Festival process.

All artists and presenters wishing to be a part of the Festival must complete an online Expression of Interest, now open online via the Woodford Folk Festival website: www.woodfordfolkfestival.com and will close at 5pm on Friday 20th May 2011. Applicants cannot be considered without a complete online application.

Woodford Folk Festival – December 30th 2010 – Live Review [P2]

Review: Kenada Quinlan

Following the licensed streets, the once closed Amphitheatre is showing tonight and as the clock strikes 8pm, Evil Eddie is on schedule. Interaction with the 10 row deep bouncing spectators is initiated with the first instalment of ‘Somebody Say Evil’. “That was a little self-indulgent but thank you!” smiles the lead man and ex-Buttefingers vocalist/songwriter Eddie Jacobson. Taking a back seat yet pivotal to the performance, Jacobson enjoys the company of his fellow comrade Toddy Spitfire as the two slickly pinball lyrics from one song to the next.

Charging through ‘Aint Love Grand’ and the addictive ‘Voices In My Head’, the vision becomes clear as the studio sounds are brought to life via a strong family of well equipped and known Brisbane musicians. With the crowd multiplying by the second, the festivities continue and the only exit from this show is to refresh yourself with the energy that has been freely given to you.

Who What Where with EVIL EDDIE

Evil Eddie releases his debut solo single, ‘Queensland’.
With the song already added to rotation on triple j, the video for ‘Queensland’ is also causing quite a stir around the country. Complete with Gold Coast Meter Maids, bananas, crocodiles, and everything else quintessentially Queensland, the video has (not surprisingly) racked up quite a bit of online exposure, and was featured as Rage’s Indie Clip of the Week

Life Music Media asks EVIL EDDIE
Who, What or Where is your favourite…
