Sleepy, seaside fishing village gets its loudest wakeup call yet as Pikelet helps launch the first of the line up and some exciting new developments for the 14th annual Queenscliff Music Festival.

The first round of artists for this year’s Queenscliff Music Festival have been revealed as well as a number of exciting, new announcements at a special launch event on Tuesday 10th August, held at Melbourne’s Transit Lounge, where the incomparable girl-with-the-loop-pedal, Evelyn Morris aka.Pikelet, dangled the musical carrot with a Festival preview performance.The 2010 festival line up when completed will deliver over 80 acts presenting 150 performances in 13 venues across Queenscliff on the weekend of 26-27-28 November.

Direct from 3 years of staging large scale concerts in Macau and 10 years at the USA’s Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, New Festival Director, Michael Carrucan, has added a new stage called The Crossing Stage, and ensured everything kicks off on an ultra high note with The Lighthouse Stage opening a day earlier to encompass the Friday night. Angus and Julia Stone – ‘Down The Way’ Notches Up Platinum Sales

Angus and Julia Stone’s sophomore album ‘Down The Way’ is the highest selling Australian Artist album for 2010.

The album debuted No. 1 upon release in March, holding for 2 consecutive weeks and has maintained a position at the top of the charts, this week moving back inside the top 10 and notching up sales of over 70,000 copies in the last two months, certifying it platinum.

The siblings return home next month from playing sell out shows across the UK and USA to headline the ‘Go Between Bridge’ concert in Brisbane. They then jet back to Europe to play festivals in Belgium, Holland and France and Latitude and Cornbury Festivals in the UK. Returning home to Australia again in July to play the ‘On The Bright Side’ Festival in Perth followed by ‘Splendour In the Grass’ and then into their headline national tour commencing in August and running through September. Tickets are selling fast with additional shows being added in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to cope with the high demand!   The last few months have seen brother and sister duo Angus and Julia Stone go from strength to strength. With a #1 Gold album (fast approaching platinum) and a national SOLD OUT tour under their belts the pair have since been touring the UK, Europe, USA and Canada, gathering further accolades. ‘Down the Way’ came in at #19 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in the USA, #40 in France and have just completed their sold out UK dates,

JACKSON JACKSON – Residency @ The Evelyn, Fitzroy – April 2010

Every now and then a band arrives onto the music scene without fanfare and hype, just doing what they are born to, and what follows is large audiences and a fanatical following. And then at a certain point the industry wakes up and says “where did that come from?”

JACKSON JACKSON is one of those bands. They have become a solid live touring favourite throughout Australia since they launched a couple of years back. They are that band that supposedly no one knows about, who just happen to pack out every venue they play, many nights over. And the fans like it that way.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – ATP 2009

For the inaugural Australian series All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) have announced that arguably the most significant Australian export of the last twenty years Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, are to make their curating debut. The Bad Seeds intimate knowledge of all things Australian (music and otherwise) coupled with their innate sense of the weird and wonderful will – we are sure – make for a series of very unique events.

Performers already chosen to appear at All Tomorrow’s Parties 2009 include seminal Australian punk band, The Saints – featuring original members Ed Kuepper, Chris Bailey and Ivor Hay performing their first Australian shows (outside Brisbane) since 1977; British transcendentalists, Spiritualized; avant-blues artist, James Blood Ulmer (US); krautrock supergroup, Harmonia (Germany); electro-terrorists, Fuck Buttons (UK); pioneering synth-minimalists, Silver Apples (UK); psychotic space rockers, Afrirampo (Japan); Ex-Swan M.
