The first taster from the record comes in the shape of single and first track entitled “You And Your Heart” – a beautiful, melodic slice of acoustic bliss, that is indicative of – and perfectly introduces – “To The Sea”, to JACK’S ever faithful, and ever growing audience.

In a continuing effort to acknowledge and support environmental work JACK JOHNSON’S 2010 To The Sea Tour will collaborate with hand-chosen community groups in Australia and around the world as part of Johnson’s All At Once Community. This year’s All At Once campaign will focus on supporting non-profit groups and engaging fans in the realms of Sustainable Local Food Systems and Plastic Free Initiatives. As in 2008, Jack Johnson will donate 100% of his tour profits to charity and tour proceeds will go to these groups to support their projects. Visit www.AllAtOnce.org for additional information.

By the third day of the festival fatigue and the effects of alcohol made finding your tent site difficult.
It was another cracker, weatherwise… but I was keeping a close eye on the clouds forming in the distance… Click here for Photo Journal

By the time Wolfmother hit the stage the air temperature had dropped dramatically. Thankfully, the Wolfies’ electrifying tunes brought the heat back. They played the old crowd-pleasers plus a swag of new ones from their recent release, Cosmic Egg. As usual, Stockdale ruled the stage but not without a bit of competition (performance wise and hairstyle wise) from bass player/keyboardist, Ian Peres.

Every year the population of the sleepy seaside town of Lorne, Victoria swells. Music lovers from all over Australia pack their bags and load their cars and make the pilgrimage to the Falls Music and Arts Festival.

Falls Music and Arts Festival
Lorne is situated on the Great Ocean Road and while it is tempting for me to keep on traveling that road, I know that rolling green hills covered in lush green grass and stages set for some the world’s best acts await, just 10 kilometres inland.

Traffic crawls along the winding dusty road, but I’m sustained by the knowledge of what is about to be unveiled, around the next corner.

I put up my tent and it disappears amongst a sea of temporary canvas homes. What hope do I have of finding it late tonight? Ah well, it’s all part of the adventure!

ARIA Chart News – w/c 21 Dec 2009

Susan Boyle continues to move from strength to strength on the ARIA Album Chart, achieving a fourth consecutive week at number one with her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream”, selling over 100,000 units and chalking up the fourth highest sales week since 1997, when ARIA began compiling charts using electronically scanned sales data. Only Guy Sebastian in 2003, Shannon Noll in 2004 and Damian Leith in 2006 have sold more albums in a single week in this time. The album has been certified six times platinum since its release, placing it on track to become one of the biggest selling albums of the year. Ke$ha’s hit track “Tik Tok” claims its seventh straight week at the top of the ARIA Singles and Digital Track Charts, placing it on par with Flo Rida’s “Right Round”, The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” and “Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta as one of the year’s longest running number one singles – one more week at the top will give Ke$ha the longest running No.1 single of 2009.

Live Review: The Fumes @ The Zoo, Brisbane 12 December 2009 w/ Marshall and the Fro

Author: Hannah Collins
It’s Saturday night at The Zoo, time to kick back, get your hat on, and knuckle down for the rockabilly blues ensemble that is The Fumes.

Venue not even at half capacity, making stage front space an easy grab, 3 piece Marshall and the Fro introduce us to a very fun filled evening. With influences like Dallas Frasca, Blue King Brown and Tool, the bluesy rock set saw everybody’s feet sliding backwards and forward’s in time with the drums. Bass player Tracy Stephens looked great in a little red and white pokerdot dress, her bass pumping blues down the spines of eager onlookers. Their unique light rock, beefy but slow with it’s rockabilly undertone seemed to really intrigue.

DOPE (USA) + SOIL (USA) Australian Tour December 2009

Dope   Australia, strap yourself in, ‘cause dope and SOiL are joining forces to make one huge, hell of a show and throwing it our way! These two hard-hitting bands are renowned for their wild and industrial driven live shows, which will be sure to blow audiences when they both tour Australia’s east coast for the first time.

dope, with their politically charged, sonic arsenal of sounds mixed with a grooving, melodic style appeals to metal fans across the board. Their live set has been described by reviewers as crazy, primal, tight and pumped full of raw energy, and they get their audience going wild, so you know you’re in for one hell of a show. Not only do these boys play kick-ass music, their sex-drugs-and-rock-n-roll attitude and swagger will leave you craving more of them.

News: Patrick Wolf (UK) ‘The Bachelor’ Australian Tour – December 2009

The infamous Patrick Wolf returns to our shores, to celebrate the release of his latest album, The Bachelor.

Visceral, Impulsive, Antagonistic and Unique; the list of superlatives and adjectives for this young man and his music go on ad infinitum. Never one to conform to artistic nor industry status quo, young Master Wolf could rightly claim pole position at the vanguard of avant-garde pop. His wonderfully wilful compositions and forays into the glamorous aesthetic of leather, chains, glitter and feathers only exalt the kind of compelling self- awareness we find so irresistible.
