Susan Boyle continues to move from strength to strength on the ARIA Album Chart, achieving a fourth consecutive week at number one with her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream”, selling over 100,000 units and chalking up the fourth highest sales week since 1997, when ARIA began compiling charts using electronically scanned sales data. Only Guy Sebastian in 2003, Shannon Noll in 2004 and Damian Leith in 2006 have sold more albums in a single week in this time. The album has been certified six times platinum since its release, placing it on track to become one of the biggest selling albums of the year. Ke$ha’s hit track “Tik Tok” claims its seventh straight week at the top of the ARIA Singles and Digital Track Charts, placing it on par with Flo Rida’s “Right Round”, The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” and “Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta as one of the year’s longest running number one singles – one more week at the top will give Ke$ha the longest running No.1 single of 2009.

David Guetta reclaims top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart, Muse makes chart-topping debut on the ARIA Album Chart
“Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta (featuring Akon) reclaims number one on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, chalking up an impressive four weeks at the top and pushing Guy Sebastian‘s “Like It Like That” into second position. It’s the third song to return to the top of the singles chart this year, following Flo Rida‘s “Right Round” and Taylor Swift‘s “Love Story” which swapped positions several times in March/April. Muse makes a smashing entrance into the ARIA Album Chart, scoring a No.1 debut and their second chart-topping album with “The Resistance”. Their first was “Black Holes And Revelations”, which spent a week at the top in July 2006.

Hale and Pace Concert Hall, QPAC, South Bank, Brisbane 21 Aug 2009

The madcap wit of this comedic duo have a unique rapport with the public and media alike, with each appearance and interview they provide a rollercoaster of cultural parodies and inventive character creations. Hale says to expect all the favourites on this tour. “The Rons will be there, Jed and Dave, Billy and Johnny and songs that will tickle your fancy.” |
“There will be lots of new material” says Norman Pace, “international poker player, and we will be poking fun at anything that moves….or stays still. Members of the audience will also have a chance to star in the show.”

The Gin Club @ The Zoo, Brisbane 21 March 2009 Review w/ Hits, Danny Widdicombe
The Gin Club, Hits, Danny Widdicombe The Zoo, Brisbane – March 21, 2009 Author: Stephen Goodwin |
Floppy-haired local Danny Widdicombe croons “satisfy me” over and over like a mantra to the accompaniment of a drifting guitar arrangement. I’m in hearty agreement. His voice offers a rough-hewn country charm, but too often his finger-plucked tunes slide into frustrating aimlessness. Twanging excursions into the blues hold more verve, but the aggressive stomping of set-closer My Desire highlights the confusing patchwork of his offerings tonight.
“Hi. We’re Hits. Not that we have any.”
Hits are definitely the bastard stepchild of tonight’s bill. Wedged between the alt-country stylings of The Gin Club and Danny Widdicombe, the punk-rock five-piece detonates with the percussive force of a psychotic child throwing the biggest tantrum you could imagine. |
Decked out from the waist-up as a sailor captain, the howling Evil Dick pilots this ferocious rock rebellion, ably assisted by the killer riotgrrl guitar licks and hair-raising backing growl of Tamara Dawn Bell.
