SOULFLY AND CITY OF FIRE ANNOUNCE OZ TOUR – September 2010

  If you favour metal in its most primal form, then prepare yourself, because this line-up is what you’ve been waiting for. Soulfly will team up with City of Fire and Incite for a triple International tour of the nation, starting September 7.

Most bands slow down with age – not Soulfly. More than 10 years since their self-titled debut album became a genre classic (and achieved Gold sales), they’re back, and they’re bringing their brutal heavy metal assault to the masses, showcasing their seventh album, Omen. Led by former Sepultura frontman, Max Cavalera, Soulfly have become an even fiercer, fierier and more furious metallic monster.

Well known for their collaborations with up and coming talent, Soulfly will share top billing with Vancouver five piece, City of Fire, featuring members from Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad – Burton C Bell, Byron Stroud and Jed Simon.

We’ve mentioned it before, but it’s their tenth birthday this year, and it looks like the celebrations are set to go off with a bang. As promised, there are quite a few surprises on the roster of artists announced so far, with organisers paying closer attention to the more indie/alternative-inspired musical tastes of their punters, as well as packing in a whole bunch of more traditionally Parklife-y electro and hip hop acts.

Angus and Julia Stone – ‘Down The Way’ Notches Up Platinum Sales

Angus and Julia Stone’s sophomore album ‘Down The Way’ is the highest selling Australian Artist album for 2010.

The album debuted No. 1 upon release in March, holding for 2 consecutive weeks and has maintained a position at the top of the charts, this week moving back inside the top 10 and notching up sales of over 70,000 copies in the last two months, certifying it platinum.

The siblings return home next month from playing sell out shows across the UK and USA to headline the ‘Go Between Bridge’ concert in Brisbane. They then jet back to Europe to play festivals in Belgium, Holland and France and Latitude and Cornbury Festivals in the UK. Returning home to Australia again in July to play the ‘On The Bright Side’ Festival in Perth followed by ‘Splendour In the Grass’ and then into their headline national tour commencing in August and running through September. Tickets are selling fast with additional shows being added in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to cope with the high demand! Tim McGraw touring Australia September 2010

Tim McGraw sold out the first concert of his Australian Southern Voice Tour at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday September 16 in just 15 minutes when it went on sale on Monday.

A second Brisbane concert, for Friday September 17, was opened for sale and Gold tickets sold out. Side and rear tickets in that category were opened and only the rear is still available in blocks of two or more seats together.

Tickets to all four of McGraw’s east coast concerts, including the CMC Rocks North Queensland multi-lineup blockbuster, sold at a rapid-fire pace and put country music front and centre this week.

Jet Announce Promotional Visit April 13 – 16

Jet   As details were announced today that Melbourne’s own JET will join Brisbane’s Powderfinger on their upcoming national ‘Sunsets – The Farewell Tour’ throughout September and October, the million plus album selling rockers will be in Australia for a promotional tour from Tuesday April 13 to Friday April 16. Earlier this week, Jet’s She’s A Genius hit was announced as one of the nominated APRA ‘Song Of The Year’ Awards along with Empire Of The Sun, The Middle East, Temper Trap and others.

The 2010 winner will be announced at the APRA Awards on Monday 21st June.
