Australian Made: 100 Years of Fashion – Exhibition @ The Ian Potter Centre, Melbourne

  Drawing from the NGV ’s Collection of Australian Fashion and Textiles, Australian Made: 100 Years of Fashion will look at the rise fashion in Australia from the 1850s to 1950s. The exhibition will include some rare early examples of labelled garments from the mid 19th century and a range of dresses, tailored items and accessories that were made and retailed in Australia during this period.

Fashion has played a vital role in Australia since first European settlement. Whether reflecting status and position in a newly formed society, or exhibiting new found wealth and flamboyance, the language of fashion was of the utmost importance for the burgeoning Australian society.

Jet Announce Promotional Visit April 13 – 16

Jet   As details were announced today that Melbourne’s own JET will join Brisbane’s Powderfinger on their upcoming national ‘Sunsets – The Farewell Tour’ throughout September and October, the million plus album selling rockers will be in Australia for a promotional tour from Tuesday April 13 to Friday April 16. Earlier this week, Jet’s She’s A Genius hit was announced as one of the nominated APRA ‘Song Of The Year’ Awards along with Empire Of The Sun, The Middle East, Temper Trap and others.

The 2010 winner will be announced at the APRA Awards on Monday 21st June.
