Unearth post new track and detail ‘Darkness In The Light’

Unearth “Eyes of Black” by Metal Blade Records

Unearth are currently readying to unveil Darkness In The Light, their fifth full-length in a discography that’s placed the band among the most prolific modern metal acts to come out of the US. Set for release early July via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track album was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis. Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage / Blood Has Been Shed. The first single ‘Eyes Of Black‘ can be heard below. THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER

Over the isle of aggressive emo’s I trek, an uphill struggle lasting only 20 metres. Past a few youngins’, already heavily intoxicated before the headliners even arrive at the scene. It’s about 8.45PM, and a fight breaks out at the venue entrance… Black Dahlia Murder, have certainly attracted some eccentric hoodlums.

There are 5 bands on the bill in total, which may make for long night. Arriving too late to catch Gold Coast born; deathly brutal “Widow the Sea” (debut album coming soon) and most of the next set by Newcastle’s “The Storm Picturesque”, currently on a small Victorian tour. Both groups are relatively adolescent in relation to the depth of both their musical compilations and touring experience, but with a little time, they may just be a couple of names to watch out for…

Review: BIG DAY OUT Gold Coast 2010 – BDO

Review: Hannah Collins

BDO
[Archive Photo: Stuart Blythe]
An introduction to BIG DAY OUT out need not be overdone. We can outline the usual journey to the venue, the mass of colourful crowds milling around the stages and the blistering heat of the scorching Australian summer, complimenting those in their BDO attire. With all of the following making continual appearances, Mexican hats, BDO coolers and an array of prominent band shirts, BDO 2010 marked the beginning of a new decade of international music in superbly fine form.

Kicking off the Australian BDO roller coaster, that will set up tents in near every capital city in the country and twice in Sydney this year, the leg begins with a line up of mammoth proportions at one of the only places that surf lifestyle, trip hop beats, ghetto tricks and divine diva’s meet our very own rock and roll sub culture.

So without further ado… joining the already massive cast will be the powerful live force that is the Dillinger Escape Plan, Florida Metalcore titans Underoath, the sky-high hooks of Forever The Sickest Kids, pop rock balladeers Jack’s Mannequin and the unrelenting rhythms of All That Remains.
As always, there is also plenty to offer the fans of punk, metal and the heavier end of the alternative spectrum, as well as signing tents giving artists the opportunity to meet fans, market stalls and the odd bit of crappy installation art for you to laugh at.
