Unearth are currently readying to unveil Darkness In The Light, their fifth full-length in a discography that’s placed the band among the most prolific modern metal acts to come out of the US. Set for release early July via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track album was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis. Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage / Blood Has Been Shed. The first single ‘Eyes Of Black‘ can be heard below. |Over the isle of aggressive emo’s I trek, an uphill struggle lasting only 20 metres. Past a few youngins’, already heavily intoxicated before the headliners even arrive at the scene. It’s about 8.45PM, and a fight breaks out at the venue entrance… Black Dahlia Murder, have certainly attracted some eccentric hoodlums.
There are 5 bands on the bill in total, which may make for long night. Arriving too late to catch Gold Coast born; deathly brutal “Widow the Sea” (debut album coming soon) and most of the next set by Newcastle’s “The Storm Picturesque”, currently on a small Victorian tour. Both groups are relatively adolescent in relation to the depth of both their musical compilations and touring experience, but with a little time, they may just be a couple of names to watch out for…

|Get ready Australia – two of the world’s greatest Metal bands are hitting Australian shores this May/June! Together for the first time down under, Unearth and The Black Dahlia Murder co-headline a tour that will slaughter anything you have heard before. Combining the hardcore and extreme metal of Unearth and the Swedish-influenced blackened thrash of The Black Dahlia Murder, this double-hitter of American Metal muscle will be melting faces in a five-city tour of Australia.|
It was our biggest year to date, cities selling out faster than ever before. Eighteen years since our inception (and, unbelievably, over 100 shows later) 40,000 music fans headed to Perth’s Claremont Showgrounds today, in order to catch the hottest names in music – and bringing the 2010 leg of the BIG DAY OUT to a triumphant close.

|An introduction to BIG DAY OUT out need not be overdone. We can outline the usual journey to the venue, the mass of colourful crowds milling around the stages and the blistering heat of the scorching Australian summer, complimenting those in their BDO attire. With all of the following making continual appearances, Mexican hats, BDO coolers and an array of prominent band shirts, BDO 2010 marked the beginning of a new decade of international music in superbly fine form.|
Kicking off the Australian BDO roller coaster, that will set up tents in near every capital city in the country and twice in Sydney this year, the leg begins with a line up of mammoth proportions at one of the only places that surf lifestyle, trip hop beats, ghetto tricks and divine diva’s meet our very own rock and roll sub culture.

|“Finishing the night with a bang was the big labels A&R’s wet dream, Foxx On Fire. Give them a few years and they’ll be sharing stages with The Rapture and Bloc Party…Foxx on Fire are going to be big.” – Inpress.

As promised, Soundwave returns in ’09, and to paraphrase Southpark, it is bigger, longer and uncut!
Topped by one of this generation’s most talented and uncompromising bands in NINE INCH NAILS, the festival also sees a long overdue return of grunge titans ALICE IN CHAINS and juvenile delinquents The BLOODHOUND GANG.
Never one to rest on there laurels, they’ve announced the second round of artists for Soundwave 09!
So without further ado… joining the already massive cast will be the powerful live force that is the Dillinger Escape Plan, Florida Metalcore titans Underoath, the sky-high hooks of Forever The Sickest Kids, pop rock balladeers Jack’s Mannequin and the unrelenting rhythms of All That Remains.
As always, there is also plenty to offer the fans of punk, metal and the heavier end of the alternative spectrum, as well as signing tents giving artists the opportunity to meet fans, market stalls and the odd bit of crappy installation art for you to laugh at.
