Birds Of Tokyo Partners with EMI Music Australia

EMI Music Australia announced the signing of Perth’s Birds Of Tokyo on the eve of their third album release.

It has been an epic journey, yielding epic results, and Birds Of Tokyo are back home from recording their new album, ready to hit the road again and pumped to be part of EMI Music; one of the world’s leading music companies.

Adam Spark (band guitarist) is stoked about their new home, “Birds Of Tokyo is like a babushka doll, on the outside you have this overblown colourful crazy Russian woman and we enjoy being the doll for people to appreciate. However, it’s only upon opening her up to reveal all the inner workings do we realise how much love and effort goes into making the babushka doll concept work. EMI and the lovely people there will be our little inner dolls, who will make us, make sense in this new bird’s territory. We are really happy about this organic shift and look forward to our future with real music lovers who respect our vision and models.”

Armed with their brand new single, The Saddest Thing I Know, available digitally April 23, Birds Of Tokyo will be performing throughout May and June across Australia, showcasing tracks from their forthcoming album, plus all of the fan favourites from the their Day One and Gold-selling Universes albums. Already proving to be a radio smash, the single is the #3 most added track to Australian radio this week!

Plugged in and turned up to 10, this will be Birds Of Tokyo at their most ferocious.

Recorded as adventurously as it was written, creating the new album has already taken Birds Of Tokyo across the globe – recording in Sydney, Gothenburg and New York – but as the saying goes, there’s no place like home, and the boys are excited to be able to give their Australian fans the first taste of all things new.

And as lead single, The Saddest Thing I Know is Birds Of Tokyo at their incendiary best… a crack to the jaw powered by monster-sized riffs and spine-tingling melodies. A song with big enough balls to lead an entire album.

The kind of song made for the stage.

And Birds Of Tokyo are absolutely yearning for the stage… to be back among their fans, caught up in that indescribable circle of energy. Because as fun and creatively liberating as recording the album has been for them, the Birds boys will be the first to tell you that nothing beats a crowd.

Nothing beats the thrill of that first step out into the lights to be greeted by a boiling sea of ravenous fans, or the thunderous orchestra of them singing along in unison with heartfelt sincerity.

Nothing can compare to that.

Especially when it’s a home crowd.

Quietly but unshakably confident they have created their masterpiece album, Birds Of Tokyo are on the biggest creative high of their career. Their new material takes the band places they have never before been, which has further electrified their sense of daring… an energy they are most looking forward to unleashing on stage, in front of the people that matter most.

There’s a new chapter in the book of Birds Of Tokyo, and it’s time to kick it off with a bang.
