Live Review : george at Melbourne Zoo Twilights – 18 February 2017
Review by Ben Connolly
In the late nineties, early noughties, the Australian music scene was in a bit of flux. Still reverberating with post-grunge angst, the scene was awash with angular guitar pop. A bevvy of Brisbands dominated the pop-rock scene, while the hip hop world was just starting its local resurgence fronted by the shock of Australian accents.

In I Only Hide, Helen offers considerate comfort to those who suffer from anxiety; a comfort that only true empathy can provide. The song is fittingly accompanied by an honest and heartfelt video, featuring the pertinent storyline of ‘the two Helens’ and was produced in collaboration with Danny Martin and Elliot Smith of Villanova Music (Tim Minchin). Live Review : John Farnham at A Day On The Green, Mitchelton Wines, Nagambie – 18 February 2017
Review written by Natasha Wyborn
Nestled in the middle of Victoria some 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD and around an hour from the New South Wales border is Mitchelton Wines a new addition to the A Day On The Green success story. New to the area and driving down from NSW I have to say it was an easy trip. The crowd around 6500 was parked and settled with ease. For the first time in years an abundance of volunteers and people assured this success a big tick in my mind. The walking distance from parking to the venue was less than 500 meters again another big tick. Inside the line up was guaranteed to be a success.

Live Review: Ball Park Music at Melbourne Zoo Twilights with The Jungle Giants – 10 February 2017
Review by Ben Connolly
When times are tough, music is rightly a place to turn to seek solace. It mends a broken heart, it eases the pain of loss and it provides guidance through uncertainly. It’s fitting then that the salve for a broken and hurt world might also lay in the skilful hands of a musician. Rockers provide impetus and courage, while rap and hip hop drops truth after truth, and folk singers give poetic sense.
