Brad Cox Live at the Dalrymple Hotel Townsville Queensland – 2 July 2023
I had an opportunistic chance to see Brad Cox’s show in Townsville on Sunday night. The venue, the Dalrymple Hotel, a pub in the centre of Townsville on a steamy night, was packed, yet another sellout on this national tour. Nearly 600 “Coxheads” packed the venue tonight to see what has quickly become the hottest act in Australian country music.

This record is hard to describe, and impossible to pigeonhole – Crazy, Eclectic, Uplifting and Fabulous all in the one release!
There is more crossover here than in an underground record store after an earthquake, with Blues, Soul, Funk, Grunge, Gospel, Reggae and straight ahead Rock’n’Roll blended into an infectious groove-laden melange of old school roots, blues and rock.
Fabrizio “Fab” Grossi is a bass-player and producer first and foremost, and is probably best known for his work with Supersonic Blues Machine (with hris Barras, Kenny Aronoff and a cast of legends), Starbreaker (with Tony Harnell), and Goodfellas (with Steve Lukather) as well as all the production work for Frontiers Records in Italy (Glenn Hughes, James Christian, Robin Beck, House of Lords and Dave Navarro among others). He has also worked with Billy Gibbons, Pat Travers, Steve Vai, Alice Cooper, Eric Gales, and the man who brought the funk, George Clinton and his Parliament Funkadelics, and is currently producing Gary Clark Jr, Aaron Keylock and Susan Santos.

American Rock band from Palm Desert, California, Eagles of Death Metal will be returning to the land down under to perform at Bluesfest Byron Bay this Easter. Founded in 1998 by best friends Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, the pair came upon the band’s name in a pondering effort as to what a cross between The Eagles and a death metal band would sound like. With that, the band was born!

Nestled in the middle of Victoria some 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD and around an hour from the New South Wales border is Mitchelton Wines a new addition to the A Day On The Green success story. New to the area and driving down from NSW I have to say it was an easy trip. The crowd around 6500 was parked and settled with ease. For the first time in years an abundance of volunteers and people assured this success a big tick in my mind. The walking distance from parking to the venue was less than 500 meters again another big tick. Inside the line up was guaranteed to be a success.
