Mötley Crüe at Brisbane Entertainment Centre - May 19, 2015
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre was packed to the rafters with eager fans coming out to farewell MOTLEY CRUE on their last ever stop in Brisbane as part of ‘The Final Tour’. And opening for Motley Crue was none other than the master of macabre theatrical rock ALICE COOPER.

With a cut down set time of only 50 minutes, Alice and his band waste no time kicking off their set with gritty anthemic classics Department of Youth and No More Mr. Nice Guy. By the time we hit the third song Under My Wheels the crowd is singing, jumping and primed for more.

Leo Sayer @ Beats 4 Breast Cancer

Firstly, congratulations on the release of your new album – Restless Years.
This is your first album in six years. How was the recording process, the people involved and seeing the release of the album?

Oh, well I met Mitch Cairns, Danny Spencer and Johnny Salerno on the Good Times tour last year. They were the backing band and I loved their feel so I asked them to be my studio band. Bill Risby already was my keyboard player, and was on the tour as well, so together they became the recording band. I already had demos I’d made of all the songs so we got together at Mitch’s studio in Melbourne after the tour last winter and put the basic album together. Then we did overdubs there and vocals and backing vocals at my own studio in Sydney. It was a pretty painless operation really (one of the easiest albums I’ve ever recorded) thanks to the talent of all the great singers and musicians I was working with. Now these guys are my live band too.

Live Review : Mogwai at The Tivoli, Brisbane – March 4, 2015

Mogwai

Mick Turner spends 40 minutes creating slow-moving, somnolent guitar figures interspersed with distorted drags of cello bow, while a Jim White sound-a-like softly layers staccato drum patterns underneath. It’s a “solo” mode that could almost be The Dirty Three on benzos, but if so it shows that D3 is much more than the madcap antics of Warren Ellis.

Mogwai has eight studio albums under its belt now. It’s the sort of longevity that adds friction live: inevitably something must give way.

Incubus at Soundwave Festival 2015 - Brisbane

Three-piece band LE BUTCHERETTES took to the stage of the Enmore Theatre with a bang. We were captivated with the diverse vocals ranging from a classic style, to the heavy scream vocals in some tracks. A high energy and bizarre performance played out before us, that I am sure left most of the audience wondering what had just happened.

We caught up with KING PARROT vocalist MATT YOUNG to chat about Soundwave Festival 2015, touring and the year ahead.

You’re playing at Soundwave 2015. What are you most looking forward to about the festival?

It’s always a good time playing on the big stages in front of festival audiences, and to be on a lineup with so many great bands is really an honour. We’ve also been in the US for most of the last 6 months, so I’m really looking forward to coming home to some good weather.
