This November, Robin Williams will bring his critically acclaimed new stand-up comedy tour, entitled “Weapons of Self Destruction”, to Australia. The high-energy show will highlight Williams’ trademark free associations and riffs on social and political absurdities. The show, which toured the US in 2008 and 2009, sold out venues across the country as well as in the UK and Canada and earned the comedian spectacular reviews. Williams last American comedy tour was in 2002 when he returned to the stand-up scene after a sixteen year hiatus.

Although all shows in the upcoming a day on the green 2010/2011 summer season fall under the 10th anniversary banner, promoters Roundhouse Entertainment wanted to pay homage to many of the Aussie artists who have played a part in the event’s 215 concerts to date – and that desire has resulted in four massive birthday concerts in November.

Roller Derby: Northern Brisbane Rollers Brawl Stars vs Geelong Bloody Marys

The Northern Brisbane Rollers Brawl Stars play host to one of Victoria’s toughest derby teams, the Geelong Bloody Marys, on Saturday 16 October 2010.
It’s been almost a year since the Northern Brisbane Rollers (NBR) played their first interstate bout. At the ‘Skate of Emergency’ double-header in Adelaide on 27 September 2009 NBR lost to the Adelady Tornadoes by a 40-point margin. |
Fast forward to Sydney on 22 May this year – NBR travelled south and played in a rather controversial match against the Sydney Roller Derby League. It was a neck and neck encounter until the dying minutes. Final score: Sydney 106 Brisbane 86.

There are some musicians who blow us away with their musical talent and prowess, and there are some who whisk us along on a journey of high entertainment and fun. In a live show, David Campbell has a rare and optimum marriage of both features. His showmanship is second to none, his voice stunning and his persona endearing, making it a treat to watch him perform. |
Campbell’s QPAC appearance on Saturday the 7th of August in ‘The Broadway Show’ began with an old favourite and ended with a well deserved standing ovation. The full orchestra, conducted by Guy Simpson, were positioned on stage as the audience filed in, and it wasn’t until the Concert Hall was darkened and the orchestra playing that Campbell himself appeared for a rousing rendition of “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ ”. With the show to promote his new CD, titled On Broadway, Campbell performed nearly every track from the album and a few more, and it was clear that he was overjoyed to share each of the eighteen songs he performed with the audience.

Sleepy, seaside fishing village gets its loudest wakeup call yet as Pikelet helps launch the first of the line up and some exciting new developments for the 14th annual Queenscliff Music Festival.
The first round of artists for this year’s Queenscliff Music Festival have been revealed as well as a number of exciting, new announcements at a special launch event on Tuesday 10th August, held at Melbourne’s Transit Lounge, where the incomparable girl-with-the-loop-pedal, Evelyn Morris aka.Pikelet, dangled the musical carrot with a Festival preview performance.The 2010 festival line up when completed will deliver over 80 acts presenting 150 performances in 13 venues across Queenscliff on the weekend of 26-27-28 November.
