THE GUM BALL | April 2014 | More Bands and Full Program Announced!

Before the 10th annual Gum Ball hits the exquisite bush of Belford in the Hunter Valley, the festival has released its program as well as made three exciting new additions to the impressively diverse program.

The exciting new additions include Australian grunge rock icon Adalita, famed surf film producer Andrew Kidman and his ethereal band The Windy Hills, as well as spectacular local troubadours The Lairs.

The three acts will join bands such as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Jinja Safari and Adrian Edmondson on the Friday evening, whilst the Saturday program will see a packed day of genre -hopping with the Hoodoo Gurus performing around 10pm before an all star band led by Nicky Bomba enters stage left to close out the festival in a massive 10 year celebration.

Lune has also embarked on exciting projects alongside Alexis Weak and Sebastian Ingrosso (Swedish House Mafia) and three tracks from Music + Sports are set to feature in Leave the World Behind, a documentary starring former Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello, set to premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.

Fait unveils new track ‘Slow Glow’ (Music Stream)

faitEmerging from the dark city lights and distance of Perth, Fait is multi-instrumentalist Elise Higgins, releasing the second cut Slow Glow from her forthcoming debut EP Atmosphere, recorded with producer Darren Lawson (MBV, Editors).

Starting from the lonely echo of reverb-drenched guitar and sparse drum beats, Slow Glow burns bright as it builds layer-by-layer, second-by-second, surging from ebb to flow with wisps of beguiling synth and dreamlike layers. The instrumental track is pure cinematic atmosphere, crafted to mask your eyes and pull you into a world of sound, deep and fathomless.

Brisbane five-piece Settling – “Drop the Game” (Music Stream)

settlingSettling are an indie-pop five-piece from Brisbane, Australia. Settling started in 2012 as the solo project of Brisbane singer-songwriter, Tim Swanston. After collaborating with local vocalist/guitarist Kurtis Tupangaia, they duo made their debut into the Brisbane live music scene, backed by their trusty laptop. Deciding that they needed to flesh out their sound, they added local musicians Andrew Markwell (lead guitar) and Becky Meimaris (drums). This addition led to a change in musical direction, taking their acoustic-led folk songs into a heavier, poppier sound.

The Dead Daisies release new single ‘Washington’

It’s been one hell of a year for The Dead Daisies – with the release of their debut single ‘Lock ‘N’ Load’ featuring Slash, a successful tour of the USA as part of the 4th Annual Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival, and multiple shows sharing the stage with the rock legends ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Jane’s Addiction, Alice in Chains, and Coheed & Cambria. The rock super group will finish 2013 on a high, with the release of their second single ‘Washington’ in Australia, whilst also touring the UK with The Black Star Riders and headlining their own show in Israel.
