DESTRENDS – ‘PAPA’ SINGLE + TOUR – August 2016

Destrends_-_Papa_-_Promo_Shot_1

Outfitted in Dr Martens, tight jeans and glitter, Destrends are a Melbourne based three-piece quickly building a reputation as a distinctly theatrical live band with a sound influenced by early 80s post-punk. Their sound is a unique blend, reminiscent of the new wave sound of the late 70s and early 80s, with a gentle touch of gothic hysteria.

Critically acclaimed Australian duo ANGUS & JULIA STONE have today been announced as ‘very special guests’ – on all outdoor shows – opening for the legendary FLEETWOOD MAC during their On With The Show World Tour in Australia and New Zealand this October/November.

Angus & Julia Stone will perform at the Perth, Adelaide, Hunter Valley and Geelong shows in Australia, as well as all New Zealand dates.

Since the release of their latest and self-titled album, produced by the legendary Rick Rubin, Angus and Julia Stone have been playing to sell out audiences across Europe, UK, US and Canada and Australia. In addition, they also recently played at Coachella and the New York City’s Governor’s Ball and before returning to open for Fleetwood Mac, Angus and Julia will continue playing various festivals throughout Europe and North America including Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival.

Angus and Julia’s #1 album has reached platinum status in Australia, and topped the charts in France and Switzerland. The album has also given the duo a #5 iTunes album in Botswana, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The current single called ‘From The Stalls’ has just been released, and the stunning video can be viewed here.

Also joining the tour at Australian winery shows of Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong on November 7, and the two Hope Estate Winery shows in the Hunter Valley on November 14 and November 15, will be Melbourne’s STONEFIELD who have spent the past two years touring relentlessly. Stonefield have just released their new single ‘Golden Dream’, the first taste of new music from the Findlay sisters that showcases a dreamier, more psychedelic sound than previously heard from the four-piece.

Fleetwood Mac will be touring as a five-piece for the first time since 1998, and the On With The Show World Tour will mark their first series of concert dates in Australia and New Zealand since 2009’s sold-out Unleashed Tour.

The rumours are true – the legendary FLEETWOOD MAC will bring their On With The Show World Tour to Australia and New Zealand in 2015.

The On With The Show Tour will mark Fleetwood Mac’s first series of concert dates in Australia and New Zealand since 2009’s sold-out Unleashed Tour.

Touring as a five-piece for the first time since 1998, one of music’s most enduring groups of all time, Fleetwood Mac, will play a selection of arena, stadium and winery shows this October – November.

All five original band members are back together, with Christine McVie rejoining band mates Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks after a 16-year absence.

The news of Fleetwood Mac’s return is particularly welcomed by Australian and New Zealand fans after the band were unfortunately forced to cancel their sold-out 2013 dates.

The On With The Show Tour will see Fleetwood Mac on stage for close to two and a half hours, showcasing hits and classic songs from their career that spans more than four decades and global album sales in excess of 100 million, including songs such as: “The Chain”, “Dreams”, “Second Hand News”, “Rhiannon”, “Sara”, “Gold Dust Woman”, “Tusk”, “Looking Out for Love”, “Don’t Stop”, “Go Your Own Way”…and the list goes on and on.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10am on Wednesday April 1.

American Express Card Members will have an opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public from midday Tuesday March 24 for New Zealand shows and midday, Thursday March 26 for Australian shows. Visit facebook.com/AmericanExpress for complete pre-sale information.

My Live Nation members can also be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sale beginning at midday on Friday March 27 in New Zealand members and midday Monday March 30 in Australia. For complete details visit: www.livenation.com.au or www.livenation.co.nz.

Fleetwood Mac’s sold out shows throughout North America have garnered rave reviews.

“The principal emotion during the nearly 2 1/2-hour performance was the joy of having keyboardist McVie back in this group… She brought high harmonies and several songs, including ‘Little Lies,’ ‘You Make Loving Fun’ and the closing ‘Songbird,’ back into the repertoire. Nicks hasn’t sounded this good since the early ’90’s. What a rhythm machine and what an articulate emotional guitarist Buckingham is.” – Minneapolis Star Tribune

“It’s still magical. Between Buckingham’s epic guitar solos, Mick Fleetwood’s massive drumming, John McVie’s strong bass work, Nicks’ patented spins to punctuate the lovely ‘Gypsy’ and Christine McVie’s lush vocals, Fleetwood Mac looked ready to take on what Buckingham has called ‘the next chapter.'” – Newsday

“Fleetwood Mac has the intricacy, elegance and underlying punch of its songs…” – The New York Times.

“With Christine’s songs back in the set, her calm, angular presence back on the stage, there was an undeniable feeling of rejuvenation… Fleetwood and John McVie on bass reminded concert-goers why the band is named for them… They still put a layer of muscle behind everything the band did… Buckingham was ferocious and tireless as lead guitar. This man is a vital musical presence – the soul of the band. Ditto for the vitality of Nicks, its cauldron-stirring spirit… Her showcase songs, ‘Landslide,’ ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and, especially ‘Silver Springs,’ were the night’s highlights.” – Chicago Tribune

This is a tour not be missed.

Album Review: Stonefield – Stonefield (Debut Album)

Review by Natalie Salvo
Ever since they won Triple J’s Unearthed High in 2010 the four gorgeous Findlay sisters known as Stonefield (and previously Iotah) have had to face their fair share of criticism over their image and being discounted as a “teenage gimmick”. The quartet was surrounded by lots of hype as the band is made up of four sisters who range in age from being teenagers to in their early twenties. They also got to play Glastonbury festival quite early but they do have the talent to back it all up. On their eponymous, debut record they continue to thumb their noses at their detractors as they offer one solid and promising effort.

STONEFIELD – 2013 Australian Album Tour

Riding the momentum of a soaring radio and video favourite Put Your Curse On Me (watch it below), a string of sold out shows across August and a massive BIGSOUND campaign that saw the band partner with Red Bull to throw a packed-out launch party for their album on the first night of the Brisbane industry conference, Stonefield are poised to make their mark on the rest of 2013.

Produced by acclaimed Band of Skulls producer Ian Davenport and mixed by Grammy-nominated Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam), ‘Stonefield’ is a contemporary take on classic rock ‘n’ roll. A heavy, raw and startlingly mature collection of songs with an overt blues influence, a trademark of the band.

STONEFIELD ‘Put Your Curse On Me’ Tour – August/September 2013

A year removed from the spotlight has resulted in light years’ worth of maturity for Amy, Hannah, Sarah and Holly – collectively known as Stonefield – as they take the next step in their already impressive career trajectory, having emerged from recording their debut album with a soaring new single and fresh run of national tour dates in tow.

Premiered by The Doctor on triple j this afternoon, ‘Put Your Curse On Me’ is the first taste of their long awaited self-titled debut album, which will be released in October.

Live Review: Stonefield @ Northcote Social Club, Melbourne – 24 April 2012

Review by Ben Connolly
There are a couple of caveats to make about Stonefield as they took to the stage at The Northcote Social Club. The first is that they are a band of young, impossibly cute sisters from country Victoria, all apart from singer/drummer Amy Findlay, able to lay claim to being teenagers. It’s abundantly clear at times, too, with their youth defying their position – furtive, self-conscious glances to each other through face-shielding long lanky locks, seeking silent approval and encouragement – never mind the packed room full of hopeful adoration right at their feet.

The second note is about the style of music they produce – 70’s era synth-heavy psych-influenced prog-rock straight from their parents vinyl collection. It’s a genre with a shaky recent history in the Australian rock scene, with name after name hailed in the UK press as the next great hope of rock music only to fall in a heap come time and critical analysis. It’s a hype seemingly mirrored in Stonefield’s already mythically-charged short history – plucked from their country-town garage, they won a slot at Perth’s One Movement industry event, where a band booker snapped them up to play on the John Peel stage at the holiest of holy grails, Glastonbury. All of this while still labouring under a short EP and doing the merry-go-round of Triple J’s perpetual Unearthed treadmill.

Interview: Amy Findlay – Stonefield

Interview by Chris Dornan
The most famous sisters from Darraweit Guim, Victoria are just about to hit the road on their BAD REALITY National Tour. They’ve had an exciting 12 months sharing the stage with such iconic bands as The Foo Fighters, Tenacious D and The Kaiser Chiefs and playing to huge crowds at The Glastonbury Festival, The Sunset Strip Music Festival and Big Day Out 2012. Just in case you’ve been living in a dark cave for the last three years without a radio, the band I’m speaking of is STONEFIELD.

We caught up with Amy Findlay, drummer and lead vocals from STONEFIELD prior to their BAD REALITY National Tour

Chris Dornan LifeMusicMedia: I Just had a listen to your new single “Bad Reality”. It’s got fresh new sounds with well written lyrics. Who wrote the single and where did the motivation and creativity come from to package it all together?

Amy Findlay: We all wrote the song together. We were finishing recording the first half our new EP and just as we were going into the studio to record the other half no one felt like we had our first single yet. We were kind of freaking out a little bit and putting a lot of pressure on ourselves. We just realised that we didn’t have to put so much pressure on ourselves and chill out and let it come naturally as we have in the past recordings. One day I just got the melody in my head and Hannah just played a few chords and it all just came together in a few minutes. It luckily was one of those songs that came along naturally.
