The album saw people around the country fall in love with David McCormack, Glenn Thompson, Paul Medew and Matthew Strong all over again. Much loved Australian songstress Missy Higgins graced the Taronga stage supported by the iconic Paul Dempsey on Saturday February 13, 2016. Missy enchanted the entire concert lawn with acoustic guitar and ukulele in tow, delivering the unforgettable hits and pop ballads that brought her into critical acclaim. Due to detected electrical storm activity that was within 5km of Taronga Zoo, Sunday evening’s performance was unfortunately shortened by three songs in the interests of everyone’s safety, however moods stayed uplifted as Missy closed her set with a spectacular rendition of her platinum-selling breakthrough single ‘Scar’.

The support slot on the summer picnic rug festival circuit is easily the toughest around at the moment. With audience attention divided between divvying up the roast chook, keeping the ants out of hummus and wrangling over-excited toddlers out way past their bedtimes, it’s a tough mix. And, in the case of the hugely successful Melbourne Zoo Twilights series, adding to this is the distraction of a couple of boisterous lions having a bellow; it leaves little room for paying close attention to what’s happening on the main stage.
