Winston McCallOut on the run, and sitting quietly in a car it’s about 11.30AM when the phone rings.

It’s an anticipated call, an exciting sound, I answer, my heart beating with suspended animation.

LMM – Hello Hannah Speaking
WM – Hey Hannah It’s Winston [McCall] from Parkway Drive here.

LMM – So have you done a few interviews already this morning?
WM – No I haven’t actually, this is the first one.

LMM – Really? So you got to have a bit of a sleep in?
WM – *Laughs* Yeah a little bit!

LMM – Good Stuff. So you’ve been touring off the back of your latest release, Deep Blue, having done a recent national tour. The Brisbane leg of the show was stated to be (in your own words) one of or even the biggest headlining shows that you’ve played in Australia.

Winston McCallLMM – Parkway Drive have played with some huge names in metal, like Killswitch Engage, Chimaira and In Flames. They’re all huge names in your genre so do you think there’s a reason that you feel a little bit more intimidated playing on the No Sleep Til tour?

WM – Well definitely because there’s a bunch of bands on the line up that we’re really good friends with..ie a Day to Remember among others but at the same time there’s bands that I’ve wanted to see for a hell of a long time that I’ve never gotten to see before, like NOFX and of course Descendants. We found out about NOFX first and we though to play with them would be insane cause we’re all massive NOFX fans from way back, we’re pretty big punk fans! Then we found out about Descendants those freaks! It’s insane to have a bill like that and its mind warping we’re playing with them. Its gunna be a really, really long day put it that way!

JAMES FREUD RIP – 29 June 1959 to 04 November 2010


Photographer: Carbie Warbie		   It is with much sorrow that we share the news of the passing of James Freud.

James Freud passed away this morning. James’ battle with alcoholism has been well chronicled. His two books on his recovery and five years sobriety were bestsellers and gave a lot of people who were suffering the same affliction comfort and hope.

Unfortunately, James has succumbed to his disease and taken his own life this morning.

James Freud commenced his music career at the age of 17 as a member of the Teenage Radio Stars who had their first Australian hit with ‘I Wanna Be Your Baby’. He signed with Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Records label and had a successful solo career with the hit ‘Modern Girl’ from the album ‘Breaking Silence’ in 1980. James joined The Models in 1982 and wrote their smash hits ‘Barbados’, ‘and ‘Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight’ from their hugely successful ‘Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight’ album. Always a dynamic and energetic performer, James got a rousing reception each night of the 2006 Countdown Spectacular when he performed ‘Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight’ to the sell out crowds across Australia.

Interview: Australian based pop band… STRAY

 

Australian based pop band Stray formed in Sydney at the end of 2006. Sharing the same passion for Pop music, they combined their talents and blended a mix of 80’s funk inspired bass lines, organic feel of RnB and the current Electro Pop/Rock dimension to create the Stray sound.

Life Music Media caught up with the duo *Alessandro Gaudiosi (Lead Vocals, Synths), Phil Lombardo (Drums, Synths)* to find out more about STRAY!

Hi guys, can you tell us a little about “Stray”?

  Well, we are a 2 piece duo who just love pop music. we love to write it, produce it and most of all perform it-

We have just released our EP titeld ‘Sex, Love and Neon Lights‘ which features 5 tracks inspired by the great Michael Jackson and Prince. We really inspirie to write and perform music which has a commercial feel to it and I guess thats what Stray is all about in a nut shell.

Daniel Lee Kendall… will have you ‘Lost in the Moment’


Lost In the Moment - EP - Daniel Lee Kendall – Lost In the Moment – EP		   Daniel Lee Kendall, (DLK) a young outstanding singer songwriter from the Central Coast of New South Wales wooed crowds at the prestigious Big Sound Festival in Brisbane, that performance kicked off a short run of introductory live intimate performances by this newly discovered independent artist. The exceptionally talented singer song writer will be revealed nationwide via his debut EP ‘Lost In the Moment’ (out on Redcat Sounds via MGM on October 1st).

Discerning music lover’s ears are already primed with the title track from the EP added to the national youth broadcaster triple j last week. Daniel was Unearthed by triple j in July this year, and as part of the Unearthed program he won a spot on the popular Coaster Festival which takes place in Gosford later this month.
