Walking into The Gum Ball for the very first time I admit I was unsure what to expect. Rain poured and lightning threatened to end the Friday evening before it even began. Looking around I saw all walks of life from hippies to couples as straight as an arrow and even a mermaid yes you hear right. The common link between all parties was calm, peace and tranquility. I must say from the outset this is the perfect family festival, kids were everywhere and very welcome. There were plenty of activities to occupy them as well. From skateboard ramps to open puppet theatre this was a very clever addition.

There are fewer more pleasing sights in the live music world than a rock act totally on form. And for Victorian lad Dan Sultan, he couldn’t presently be more on point at the moment: his third long-player Blackbird is universally lauded, has given him a swag of awards and, just last month, notched over to ‘gold’ status in the sales sheets. More than all of that, however, is the confidence all of this has brought the charismatic singer. And it spills out in abundance in his stage shows of late.

DAN SULTAN | ‘Blackbird’ tour announced
The Blackbird tour will see Dan Sultan touring for close to two months, visiting every state in the country including capital cities and smaller, regional towns. Sultan will be backed by a full band at all shows, with gig-goers in capital cities treated to a little extra glitz from a big-band set-up.
The past few months have seen the award-winning Melbourne artist deliver smouldering live performances – both in support of Bruce Springsteen and on his own ‘Under Your Skin’ headline dates.

After an exciting lead-up to the 2010 ARIA Awards that has seen the presentation of sixteen ARIA ‘Genre’ Awards, four ARIA Artisan Awards and the induction of five bona fide music legends at a heartfelt ARIA Hall of Fame event, ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) is proud to announce the final winners of the 2010 ARIA Awards season.
Before a capacity audience comprised of members of industry heavy weights and music fans, the final eleven ARIA Awards were presented in style at a dazzling event at Australia’s most iconic venue – the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 7 November 2010 (broadcast on Network Ten).
Capping off an extraordinary year, brother / sister act ANGUS & JULIA STONE have taken out the much coveted ARIA Award in the category of ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Although all shows in the upcoming a day on the green 2010/2011 summer season fall under the 10th anniversary banner, promoters Roundhouse Entertainment wanted to pay homage to many of the Aussie artists who have played a part in the event’s 215 concerts to date – and that desire has resulted in four massive birthday concerts in November.

Bluesfest 2010 wraps up its 21st Birthday with the world’s finest musicians and approx 80,000 fans
April 6th 2010 – Last night at the Tyagarah Tea Tree farm 12 minutes north of Byron Bay, five incredible days of blues and roots music from all over Australia and the world drew to a close, capping off a 21st Anniversary birthday party of infectiously good music and signature Bluesfest spirit.
Blessed with glorious sunshine and the occasional cooling shower, approximately 80,000 fans from 30 different countries walked through the entry gates over five days of blues, rock and roll, alt-country, world, soul, reggae, funk, Latino and roots music.
