There’s a somewhat delicious irony to the longevity of the slacker indie rock of Stephen Malkmus. First in the iconic 90s indie kings Pavement and now with his own band The Jicks, the slacker lo-fi ethos portrayed belies the studied industriousness of the bands, who combined are now well into their third decade in existence.

Deep in the American south, legends about crossroads abound. It is said that if you stand at a crossroads and wait there until midnight, a man (or the devil in the guise of a man) will appear who will imbibe you with phenomenal guitar playing abilities (and the women, money and fame that come with it). All that for the rather reasonable cost of your soul. Nowadays we know that’s not true, because there are plenty of people who have immense amounts of money, sex and fame that got gypped on the talented part. |
Ben Kweller returns to Australia in October for National Tour
Singer/Songwriter, Ben Kweller was born in San Francisco, CA in 1981. Kweller was exposed to music at a very early age.
By his teenage years, Kweller had released two albums and EP with his band Radish, not beginning his solo career until the age of 19. His heartland hooks and folksy flourishes made fans out of several artists, and Kweller soon found himself touring with the likes of Juliana Hatfield, Guster, Kristin Hersh, and Evan Dando. |

Gersey is an Australian rock band based in Melbourne, which formed in 1997. The band is composed of Craig Jackson (vocals, bass), Daryl Bradie (guitar), Matt Davis (guitar), Danny Tulen (drums) and Drew Pearse (keyboards).

FINALLY!!! The welcome return of Pavement – one of the world’s most iconic acts and one of my all time personal FAV’s!
Having seen them ages ago way way BACK in the rock time machine playing the Prince Of Wales in St Kilda in 1993. Two years later at The Showgrounds, they played the BIG DAY OUT. Then they came back for one last performance in 1998 and they went their separate ways. :(
