2ND BRISBANE CONCERT announced for KEITH URBAN
The multi-platinum selling Keith Urban has today announced a second and final Brisbane show will be added on Saturday April 16 to his ‘Get Closer 2011 World Tour’, with tickets going on sale at 9am on Monday March 14.
The April 16 show, in Urban’s hometown of Brisbane, will be the last Australian show on the first leg of his world tour and follows the first Brisbane Entertainment Centre show already on sale on Friday April 15.

After the first day of autumn in Brisbane discouragingly turned out to be another stifling experience, the evening breeze is a welcome reprieve. The Riverstage is an unusual sight – half the hill is lined with seats in stark contrast with how the place looked last time I attended a show there (trying to balance myself on a slippery slope at the rain-sodden Sunset Sounds).
Considering the vast majority of tonight’s crowd are baby boomers, young Sydney six-piece Cameras fall on largely indifferent ears with their moody, echoey indie-rock. Influenced by the same doleful post-punk sounds from the late ’70s/early ’80s northern England as Interpol (the bass player even looks like a younger version of Carlos D: smart black shirt and jeans, knee-level Fender P), they give it their all despite muted response. Tunes like Defeatist and Kreuzberg are steely and brooding in equal measures; I make a mental memo to catch the band at a venue gig in the future. |

SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS have officially confirmed that this year’s festival will again be held in the wonderful surrounds of Woodfordia, near Woodford, south-east Queensland.
Australia’s number one mid-winter music celebration will be held across three big days from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st July. Set those dates aside for more music, arts and culture from around the globe.
SITG would also like to advise that any damage inflicted on the Woodfordia site during January’s devastating floods throughout SE QLD will be well and truly repaired by the time of the festival. “We wouldn’t be announcing Woodfordia as the location for the 2011 Splendour In the Grass festival if we weren’t completely confident that was the case,” said Splendour’s co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco.
