March 16th 2011 – Here it is folks, the final artist announcement for Bluesfest 2011. As you can see, we’ve definitely saved some of the best till last with these stellar talented musicians, so if you weren’t excited before, you will be now! Tickets for Thursday 21 and Tuesday 26 April are still available – don’t miss out, the clock is ticking and it’s only a bit over a month until Bluesfest finally kicks off!

The whole lineup has become picture perfectly clear with the official downloadable Bluesfest Playing Schedule now online at www.bluesfest.com.au .

That means you can now make all those big decisions and plan your complete Bluesfest itinerary. Check it out for all artist times and stages – download it, print it out, circle your options – whatever you need to do to make sure your Bluesfest 2011 experience is all set to go in glorious fashion!

Please note that on Tuesday April 26 Bluesfest will open its doors at 11am, music starts at 2pm and finishes at 10pm, allowing everyone to get home in plenty of time for work the next day.

Roxy Music, Cameras @ Brisbane Riverstage – 1st March 2011 [Live Review]

  After the first day of autumn in Brisbane discouragingly turned out to be another stifling experience, the evening breeze is a welcome reprieve. The Riverstage is an unusual sight – half the hill is lined with seats in stark contrast with how the place looked last time I attended a show there (trying to balance myself on a slippery slope at the rain-sodden Sunset Sounds).

Considering the vast majority of tonight’s crowd are baby boomers, young Sydney six-piece Cameras fall on largely indifferent ears with their moody, echoey indie-rock. Influenced by the same doleful post-punk sounds from the late ’70s/early ’80s northern England as Interpol (the bass player even looks like a younger version of Carlos D: smart black shirt and jeans, knee-level Fender P), they give it their all despite muted response. Tunes like Defeatist and Kreuzberg are steely and brooding in equal measures; I make a mental memo to catch the band at a venue gig in the future.

Nikon SuperGP   The 2009 Nikon SuperGP will JUMP START YOUR HEART from October 22 to 25 on Queensland’s spectacular Gold Coast.

The Australian V8 Supercars Championship Series will headline the entertainment with 600km of race distance with four 150km races conducted at over 300 kilometre per hour around one of the world’s most picturesque street circuits.

The Nikon SuperGP will host Event 11 of the 2009 V8 Supercars Championship Series, as well as the Australian Legends category, the Aussie Racing Cars, Strategic Airlines Formula Ford, the Haymans Electrical MINI Challenge and a mammoth on-track entertainment program including stunt shows, burn out displays, drifting, driving challenges and driver parade laps.

Home Grown In The Valley Festival – Currumbin Valley, 27 July 2008

Sunday July 27 sees the birth of Home Grown In The Valley, a boutique music festival in the rain forest surrounds of the Currumbin Valley Bird Gardens. The line up brings together Australian music icons Ian Moss, Richard Clapton and Diesel, revered guitarists Phil Emmanuel, as well as blues & roots legends Kevin Borich and Steve Edmonds.
