Tour News | Augie March 2015 National Tour

augie march
In June 2014, one of Australia’s finest and most-loved bands Augie March announced their return from a six-year hiatus. This very welcome news was swiftly followed by the announcement that the band had quietly been creating a fifth studio album, Havens Dumb, in Hobart and Melbourne over the preceding three years. The band’s return to the live stage came in the form of playing at Howler, a few streets away from the scene of their first-ever show sixteen years earlier, in Brunswick Victoria. They ended up doing five nights in a row by popular demand. It was indeed a triumphant return, with the band in best-ever form, playing better than ever, and enjoying themselves for the first time in a long time.

Q&A with Karl S. Williams

Karl S. Williams
Currently on tour (November-December 2014) in support of his new album ‘Heartwood’, KARL S. WILLIAMS took time our for LifeMusicMedia…

:: What track changed your life ::

Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground by Blind Willie Johnson. A wordless and primitive expression of pure beauty. It showed me that all artifice could be done away with and the song could be whittled to its core, transcending even language.

:: What is your favourite Album ::

Probably Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here. I have listened to it a million times and it always works.

Book | The Youngs – The Brothers Who Built AC/DC

the-youngsWith sales of over 200 million albums, AC/DC is not just the biggest rock band in the world. It’s a family business built by three brothers: George, Malcolm and Angus Young. And, as with any business, some people prospered while others got hurt along the way. The Youngs: The Brothers Who Built AC/DC is unlike any AC/DC book you’ve read before.

Less a biography, more a critical appreciation, it tells the story of the trio through 11 classic songs and reveals some of the personal and creative secrets that went into their making. Important figures from AC/DC’s long way to the top open up for the very first time, while unsung heroes behind the band’s success are given the credit they are due. Accepted accounts of events are challenged while sensational new details emerge to cast a whole new light on the band’s history – especially their early years with Atlantic Records in the United States.

THE DATSUNS Deep Sleep Australian tour – December 2014

datsuns_Fire the retro blasters and re-enter the atmosphere…
After some drifting through the deep sonic universe The Datsuns can finally reveal special guests for this Australian tour as it hurtles through the planet.

The Datsuns latest album Deep Sleep elaborates on their signature breakneck-paced rock’n’roll delving into more menacing terrain summoned from the bands collective proto-metal 70s influences; Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult and Bloodrock, to name a few. Semi-tones are thrown in amongst blues scale riffs creating a darker, more evil sound that summons images of 1970s cult film super-villains.
