David Guetta reclaims top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart, Muse makes chart-topping debut on the ARIA Album Chart

“Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta (featuring Akon) reclaims number one on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, chalking up an impressive four weeks at the top and pushing Guy Sebastian‘s “Like It Like That” into second position. It’s the third song to return to the top of the singles chart this year, following Flo Rida‘s “Right Round” and Taylor Swift‘s “Love Story” which swapped positions several times in March/April. Muse makes a smashing entrance into the ARIA Album Chart, scoring a No.1 debut and their second chart-topping album with “The Resistance”. Their first was “Black Holes And Revelations”, which spent a week at the top in July 2006.

The Black Eyed Peas earn their third top 10 single of the year with “Meet Me Halfway”, which jumps a huge eleven spots to #8 on the ARIA Singles Chart and becomes the band’s eleventh top 10 single overall from a total of fourteen ARIA top 100 singles. “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow” both hit No.1 earlier in the year and remain in the top 20, sitting at #5 and #16 respectively.

Taylor Swift‘s “You Belong With Me” is back for its ninth week in the ARIA Singles Chart top 10 after climbing seven spots to #9. The track dropped as low as #18 in its four-week absence from the top 10. “Run This Town” from Jay-Z (feat. Rihanna & Kanye West) is the biggest mover of the week, up a massive twelve spots to #13 while Glee Cast’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”, La Roux’s “Bulletproof” and “Broken-Hearted Girl” from Beyonce all score top 40 debuts, coming in at 21, 26 and 28 respectively.

“Six To Midnight”, the sixth studio album from homegrown favourites Grinspoon enters the ARIA Album Chart at #6. This makes it the band’s fifth top 10 album; “Easy” and “Thrills, Kills And Sunday Pills“ both hit #4 in 1999 and 2004 respectively, while “New Detention” and “Alibis And Other Lies” peaked at #2 in 2002 and 2007. “The Blueprint 3” from Jay-Z (feat. Alicia Keys) cracks the top 10 to debut at #9, becoming Jay-Z’s second ever ARIA top 10 appearance. This week also sees the #11 debut of Megadeth‘s album “Endgame” along with a #17 entry for Jamie T‘s “Kings And Queens”. Following his Australian promotional tour last week, Italian crooner Patrizio Buanne’s self-titled album jumps six spots to #20 while “Draw The Line” from David Gray makes a #26 debut.

The Beatles make a huge impact on the ARIA Album Chart following the digital remastering of their studio albums, which were re-issued on 9 September. Last week saw seven of their albums re-enter the top 100 with the tally doubling this week and coming close to Michael Jackson‘s record of seventeen. “Abbey Road” sits at #12 while “The Beatles”, “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Past Masters (Volumes 1 & 2)” are at 15, 16 and 34 respectively.

David Guetta lands his sixth consecutive week at the top of the ARIA Digital Tracks Chart with “Sexy Bitch” (feat. Akon), while Guy Sebastian‘s “Like It Like That” and Kate Miller-Heidke‘s “The Last Day On Earth” hold at 2 and 3. “Don’t Stop Believin’” from Glee Cast debuts at #19 and Beyonce‘s “Broken-Hearted Girl” enters at #30.
