The Black Eyed Peas return to the top of the ARIA Album Chart as David Guetta continues to dominate the ARIA Singles Chart

The Black Eyed Peas blast up the ARIA Album Chart this week as their hit record “The E.N.D.” returns to the top for the third time, coinciding with their massive Australian tour. It reached No.1 on debut in June and again in August, staying in place for a week on both occasions. The last album to have three separate stints at the top of the album chart was Kings Of Leon’s “Only By The Night”. David Guetta’s “Sexy Bitch” (featuring Akon) holds at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart, racking up a massive seven weeks and joining Flo Rida’s “Right Round” and “I Gotta Feeling” from The Black Eyed Peas as the longest running chart-topping singles of 2009.

The Black Eyed Peas’ “Meet Me Halfway” has been steadily climbing the ARIA Singles Chart since release, jumping three spots to No.2 this week. They also take out the No.4 position with “I Gotta Feeling”, which has remained in the top 10 since its debut back in June, a massive 18 weeks, and looks set to rival 2007’s best-selling single “Low” from Flo Rida which spent 19 weeks in the top 10.

In further ARIA Singles Chart news, “Before The Worst” from Irish outfit The Script climbs seven spots to #10 giving the band their second Australian top 10 single. Their former #3 single “Breakeven” is the biggest mover of the week, jumping a whopping sixteen spots to #24. Following a fabulous performance at the traveling Parklife Festival, La Roux’s “Bulletproof” is up five spots to a new high of #13 while “Party In The U.S.A.” from teen star Miley Cyrus jumps six spots to #15. “Little Lion Man”, the debut single from London folk quartet Mumford & Sons enters the chart at #23 and “Coin Laundry” from ARIA nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Mitchell re-enters the top 40, sitting at #28. Dizzy Rascal’s “Holiday” makes a re-appearance in the top 40, sitting at #32, “Wheels” from the Foo Fighters debuts at #37 and Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” comes in at #40 after eleven weeks in the chart.


“Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel”, Mariah Carey’s first studio album since last year’s “E=MC²” makes an impressive debut this week, taking out No.6 position on the ARIA Albums Chart. The Script’s self-titled album jumps again this week, moving six spots to #14 while Harry Connick Jr., who’s been in the country for a promotional tour, scores a #18 debut with “Your Songs”. “Been Waiting” from Jessica Mauboy climbs ten spots to #28 after a massive forty-five weeks in the chart. The past week saw her blitz the 2009 ARIA Award nominations, receiving a mammoth seven nods for her debut album. Eskimo Joe’s “Inshalla” makes its way back into the top 40 this week, hitting #34 while the Backstreet Boys sit just below in the #35 position with their new album “This Is Us”.

“Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta (feat. Akon) continues to dominate the ARIA Digital Tracks Chart, landing nine weeks straight at the top. The Black Eyed Peas’ “Meet Me Halfway” and “I Gotta Feeling” come in at #2 and 3 respectively while “Before The Worst” from The Script jumps eight spots to #10. “Starstrukk” from 3OH3! (feat. Katy Perry) is up five spots #21,“Little Lion Man” from Mumford & Sons makes a #22 debut and “Wheels” from the Foo Fighters enters the chart at #33.
