Live Review | Bluejuice + The Aston Shuffle + Jody @ The Metro Theatre, Sydney – October 26, 2014

Review by Scott Singh
Bluejuice @ The Metro Theatre, Sydney
It is hard to summarise the night that was spent watching the glorious men of Bluejuice give it their all at the Metro Theatre for the last time, only because the night was filled with so much substance that I know something will linger past this review and remain with those who witnessed the show.

To start off the night, the relatively fresh band Jody welcomed the crowd with a breezy disposition, drawing a great likeness to the summer-indie image that more developed bands have owned. This kind of familiarity did take away from the experience the band was trying to deliver.

2014 has been a turbulent year for the band with drummer Aaron Fiocca fighting cancer and a member change with the addition of Chris Shaw (ex House Vs Hurricane) on bass. This would be too much to handle for most bands but DOD are stronger than ever and are currently busy writing their third album scheduled for release in 2015. Aaron is now fighting fit and smashing the drums with huge beats and as a whole the band are really excited for the future. Don Walker Announces ‘Live at the Caravan’ with the warm neighbourly sound of The Suave Fucks‏

Don Walker

Don Walker releases a brand new live album, recorded at Melbourne’s Caravan Club, featuring songs from the acclaimed album ‘Hully Gully’ and the vast Don Walker catalogue.

Walker has few peers, if any, in illuminating the darker underbelly of the Australian psyche, whether he’s performing with Cold Chisel, Tex, Don and Charlie or solo. Angry women, luck-chasers, heartbroken prodigals who don’t smell good and anyone who just wants to throw the afternoon away on a game of pool – they’re all still there recorded live.

Beat The Drum – Celebrating 40 Years of triple j – Sydney Festival 2015

Beat The Drum online strip

In 1975, a little radio station called 2JJ launched in Sydney, changing the face of Australian radio forever. The first track ever played, Skyhook’s ‘You Just Like Me ‘Cos I’m Good In Bed’, set the tone for the risqué antics and love of Australian culture and music that would unfold over the next four decades. 40 years later, and now a national network, triple j continues to be as passionate and provocative as ever.
