When Godsmack took to the Tivoli stage in Brisbane last night for the very first time in their 17 year career, fans were understandably excited and anything but disappointed. An eclectic audience with ages ranging from 18 to 55, styles from jeans and a t-shirt to full metal punk wear, both men and women turned up for their first opportunity to rock out to the American alternative/metal band live.

Marilyn Manson’s event started with all lights out, making the venue pitch black. Suddenly there was a blinding white light, then a mixture of red green and purple that pulsed through the venue and audience. The audience responded with a roar.

As we all stood and waited for the show to start, the Hordern Pavilion were playing Iron Maiden’s “666 the number of the beast”. I was stoked to hear a venue playing great music that really builds the atmosphere leading into the bands performances.

Festival goers attending the 26th Annual Bluesfest, to be held at its custom built event site at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (just outside Byron Bay) will now be able to get out their highlighters and get busy planning their Bluesfest 2015 experience.
