The 2015 Melbourne Zoo Twilight Series is off to an incredible start. After announcing a sell out, and then second show for Paul Kelly Presents The Merri Soul Sessions featuring Clairy Browne, Kira Puru, & Vika and Linda Bull we can now announce that Bernard Fanning’s show has officially SOLD OUT. Audiences rushed to snag tickets to this commended acoustic guitarist and legendary lyricist with his live band in one of summer’s most beautiful venues – a dusk evening surrounded by dazzling wildlife, set in the heart of Melbourne.

The wonderfully diverse Zoo Twilights ensures that even if you may have missed out on tickets, there is a performance for every member of the family; spanning indie, folk, disco, blues, reggae, Afro-funk, Bollywood and many more. The Zoo Twilights series runs every Friday and Saturday evening from Friday 30th January and running through to Saturday 7th March, boasting gourmet food, leisurely picnicking with all proceeds raised donated towards the on-going conservation of the Eastern Barred Bandicoot – a species now considered extinct in Victoria.

Bernard Fanning has had a career most musicians can only dream of. He has spent over two decades entertaining and delighting audiences across the world with his extraordinary voice and songwriting. From fronting Powderfinger, to penning nine albums – winning a poolroom’s worth of ARIA Awards along the way. After spending the past European summer in Madrid, Bernard’s well-earned break was interrupted by his oldest partner-in-crime: his acoustic guitar. Now, with a refreshed take on his distinctive and relentless songwriting, he and his band will bring to life his acclaimed albums, as well as debuting to audiences at the Zoo unheard new songs.

Join James Reyne playing music from Australian Crawl, whose definitive 80’s albums are the soundtrack to an everlasting Aussie summer. From the homegrown entrancing voice of Sarah Blasko to the recently Age double winner Dan Sultan who will be performing his powerhouse pop anthems that saw him take home ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Male’. Boys in the Band will play an all-singing all-dancing medley of hits from over fifty years. Melbourne’s very own Bollywood and Spaghetti rock inspired The Bombay Royale are joined by Daptone Record’s (home to the likes of Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley) The Budos Band – a collective of thirteen musicians performing instrumental cosmic soul from NYC.. Have your first rock n’ roll picnic with the thundering sounds of Spiderbait and former Pavement front man and renowned guitar pop icon Stephen Malkmus performs tracks from his latest acclaimed album with his band The Jicks. Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks will be joined on stage by Melbourne’s lo-fi pop champions Twerps; a double billing not to be missed. Formally known as Bright Eyes, the tender singer-songwriter all the way from Omaha, Nebraska Conor Oberst makes his Twilights debut. Iconic 70’s disco act The Village People will performing all their sing-a-long hits, while rock-reggae band and party-starters with a twist The Cat Empire will ensure no one is left sitting in the last Twilight of the year.
