GOODNIGHT OWL Release Debut Video For MAPS AND COMPASSES

Want a copy of Goodnight Owl EP “Goodnight Owl”? We have a few copies of Goodnight Owl’s self titled EP to give away to coincide with the bands release of their debut film clip for EP single Maps & Compasses.. See below for details.

Goodnight Owl can lead the way in two directions, an embrace of the dawn, or an adventure into the dark. Make it what you will, this 4 piece Melbourne band play a mixture of pop, folk, electronic, ambient, and post-rock music which takes the listener on a journey lyrically and musically.

The development of Goodnight Owl’s sound was significantly inspired when Eddie Alexander (vocals, guitar, bells, melodica, drum) was joined by childhood friends from Alice Springs Bella Walker (keys, glockenspiel) and Joe Walker (electronics, keys, glockenspiel, guitar, drum, melodica) in Melbourne, and met Eric Moore (drums) in 2009 to form what is now the band for live performances. Live Review: Skipping Girl Vinegar with The Good Ship @ The Troubadour, 18th July 2009.

By: Will Alexander
Support band The Good Ship are, as their name suggests, a pirate themed band with a sense of humour.

On stage from left to right there’s an accordionist in a puffy white shirt reminiscent of a Seinfeld episode, a violinist with eye patch, admiral’s cap and a fake bird teetering halfway down his back, 3 guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and the one female member doing back-up vocals. Yes, if ever a band looked like a bunch of pirates with a few ounces of fashion sense, or a group of extras from a pirate’s of the Caribbean set, this was it.

Skipping Girl Vinegar – Debut Album “Sift The Noise”

In Stores now through Popboomerang / Secret Fox / MGM

Sometimes an album comes along that resonates. Something that sounds immediately relevant and is so unmistakably honest, that no matter your musical taste, there’s a deep founded respect and due reverence noted. Drum Media called it “a classic pop sense that doesn’t get bogged in its own vision of itself” (Aug 08). Rip It Up Magazine were straight to the point: “In an age of downloads and ringtones, Skipping Girl Vinegar stand out from the pack”.

Skipping Girl Vinegar are proud to announce the release of their debut album Sift The Noise. An alt acoustic saturation of melody and pop hook described by the band as ‘music from cold places’, Sift The Noise was recorded in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and studios across Melbourne – as well as ‘The Lookout’, a beach shack in Aireys Inlet. The album was mixed and mastered in London, New York and Nashville by Adrian Bushby (Ben Kweller, Gomez, Foo Fighters), Greg Calibi (Bob Dylan, John Lennon, David Bowie) and Brad Jones (Josh Rouse, Bob Evans) respectively.
