COG – East Coast Tour 2016 ** Newcastle Show Added **

cog
The demand for Cog tickets has been overwhelming to say the least, all East Coast shows selling out in 45 mins after announce, and an outpouring of requests for more shows and more locations. The band have always had a strong and solid relationship with Newcastle fans, after years of touring there and in surrounding towns, so when the invitation came to play Yours and Owls Festival, down the road in Wollongong, it seemed like a great opportunity to pop in and say Hi!

CALLING ALL CARS “Hold, Hold, Fire” tour – Sep/Oct 2010

It has finally happened… local Melbourne lads, Calling All Cars, have announced at long last the launch of their “Hold, Hold, Fire” tour.

Although the album was released in March the boys have been touring relentlessly, supporting the likes of Cog, Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, and a little known Australian rock band that go by the name of AC/DC, and have only just had a spare moment to squeeze in some headline shows of their own.

Live Review: COG “Between Oceans” Tour @ The Hi-Fi, Brisbane – 11th June 2009

Review by Bec

Cog fans are a loyal bunch. They’ll come up to you and tell you how great their band is. “Sold out. Melbourne Hi-Fi, and now here,” one fan tells me. (He waits until he sees me write this in my notebook.) They’ll bear the unusually cold Thursday night to happily wait in line. And they’ll keep coming back to see Cog live – for some fans this is their fourth or fifth gig. Little wonder, if you believe what another fan proclaims: “Best live band – ever”. That’s a pretty big call.

Certainly, Sydney-based Cog is a WYHIWUG (what-you-hear-is-what-you-get) band. If you love their CDs then you’ll love their live shows. No disappointment there. Lead singer, Flynn Gower’s vocals, like his stage presence, are deliberate, steady and enunciated. He’s obviously a dedicated musician as are other band members, Lucius Borich, on drums, and Luke Gower on bass who is extremely animated on stage.

COG’s Sharing Space Goes Gold

Sharing Space was the bands most stressful recording experience to date, knowing their fans love it enough to break the gold sales barrier makes it all worthwhile.

Oceansize and Calling All Cars

While their latest record Sharing Space is working hard for them in Europe and the UK, gaining rave reviews from music press and fans alike, the Cog boys have been busily putting the finishing touches on their national Between Oceans Tour May / June 2009.

Cog’s powerful live shows have been wowing fans for the past few years, earning them spots on the country’s biggest festivals, including the recent Big Day Out Tour, and leaving a trail of sold out venues in their wake. The Between Oceans Tour will be the band’s last round before they take time out to pull together material for their third LP.

2009 BIG DAY OUT – SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

Roll up! Roll up! Rock ’n’ roll ringmaster SERJ TANKIAN has donned his top hat and will be cracking the whip at BIG DAY OUT 2009. The System of a Down front man has gone solo with the multi-layered album Elect the Dead. Backed by his band the FCC, TANKIAN’s show is a vaudevillian explosion – part comedic, part heart-attack serious. A showman like no other, SERJ TANKIAN is guaranteed to bring the drama at BIG DAY OUT this summer.  (ALL SHOWS)

Dropkick Murphys
BIG DAY OUT is dedicated to providing good times. And to help us do this in 2009, we’ve called on the band dubbed Boston’s answer to the Ramones – the legendary DROPKICK MURPHYS. This loud, raucous and chaotic seven-piece Celtic punk combo hits the stage with one goal: to play music that creates an all-for-one, one-for-all environment where everyone is encouraged to participate, sing along, and have a good time. Sounds good to us! So let the good times roll with DROPKICK MURPHYS at BIG DAY OUT 2009. (ALL SHOWS)

BIG DAY OUT 2009 – Official First Announcement

BIG DAY OUT 2009
THE OFFICIAL FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

Photo: Tony Mott

With the global economy on the brink of collapse, what better time to ask people to hand over their hard earned money to escape the world for a day.

And who better to prove to you that investing in music is safer and returns much more than banks any day: the man who has seen it all, Neil Young.

This is a proud moment for BDO. After 17 years of producing the most dynamic, entertaining and challenging event we possibly can, this year’s shows promise to stand out from all others.

From the dynamic sounds of Arctic Monkeys or the lush depth of TV on the Radio to the wealth of great local talent or the welcome return of the Prodigy, the world’s biggest travellin’ circus will be once again back on the road next January.

We are also working on making sure the Melbourne site is green, has shade and offers the level of enjoyment you deserve. Drought or no drought.

So come and join us for just one day. We hope the first announcement will satisfy your musical needs, but for those who need more, there will be a second announcement in November…

BIG DAY OUT is honoured to announce the arrival of one of those rare modern musicians for whom the term “legend” is more under than over-statement: NEIL YOUNG. At a prolific phase of his 40-year-plus career, YOUNG is leading his band through eclectic set lists, picking from 2008’s Chrome Dreams II, delving into classics like Hey Hey, My My, and venting his activist’s spleen on Let’s Impeach the President. Witness the many faces of a true rock icon, NEIL YOUNG at BIG DAY OUT 2009. All shows
