It’s been a long-time between drinks for Australian fans of Mumford & Sons, and with today’s Gentlemen of the Road stopover rolling into town, the festival has pulled out some of the most impressive acts of recent times for one big day of music.

Thankfully, the less than ideal weather does little to dampen the early punters enthusiasm, with Brisbane’s, Art of Sleeping first up on the bill.

That last one was a miserable oversight on my behalf, after what seemed like the cruisiest drive from Melb to the Splendour site, we were all greeted with a battleground of punters who were already covered in a layer of muddy sludge. After begrudgingly setting up camp in the rain it was into the site we went.

Frontman Caleb Hodge’s wistful harmonies have a touch of sadness and desperation, as he clings to a romantic love that is long extinct.

Single Review: Art Of Sleeping – ‘Above The Water’

After the successful release of their single, ‘Empty Hands’, Brisbane 5-piece Art of Sleeping are about to release their latest single, ‘Above The Water’.

Not wasting any time, the track grabs your attention from the get go, with a wonderful, whimsical melody – beautifully complimented by frontman Caleb Hodges soulful, haunting vocals.

Drumming up comparisons to Grizzly Bear, the track progresses naturally, building into an achingly gorgeous chorus that grabs hold of your heart and mind. This is a band that not only grabs your attention, but deserve it.
