In Mason Rack’s own words: “I just want to bring the best, meanest, horniest, rockin, swampy, smokey, blues music to my audiences….” and at Greenfest 2009 that’s what he did.

Having just finished photographing the Botanics at the red stage, in the distance I heard a bluesy slide guitar wah riff that rang out like a beacon of light, lighting the way to Mason Rack’s performance.

Genres:
Roots Music / Blues / Rock

Location:
Gold Coast, QLD & Canada

Members:
Mason Rack on vocals, slide guitar, lead guitar and mean growls
Matt Henry on bass guitar and backing vocals

Influences:
Mason’s dad, Billy Rack, was a multi-talented jazz musician, playing different instruments and performing in different areas of the stage. He was the nicest man Mason ever knew. Other influences include: Tom Waites, Tex Perkins, Jeff Buckley, Ben Harper, Violent Femmes, Dave Mathews…

Sounds Like:
A collection of rock/blues/roots with flashes of Tom Waites and Hendrix, melting towards Ben Harper. Screaming slide, big bass, big drums, big show, wait for the all in drum deul, it’s something you’ll never forget

Bio
Winners of the Q-Song Award for best Blues and Roots song””Dust”, written with Steve Balbi, Pre Pro. recorded and receiving airplay on ”JJJ”, The Mason Rack Band have been touring, and with the awesome response from fans, the boys are hooked!

Jamming alongside artist like Phil Emmanuel, Tex Perkins, Lisa Hunt, Renee Geyer and Xavier Rudd, accepting accolades from politicians, signing a recording deal with local label Bloodstock Records, scoring in the Top5 for Blues at the MusicOz Awards, being dubbed “the best new blues/roots act ever seen” at the Toyota National Gympie Music Muster, playing at the Quicksilver Pro in Coolangatta and also being supported by ”CULT INDUSTIES” all the signs are there in bold that Mason Rack’s star is definitely on the rise.
