The Bon Scotts – Kids in Counterfeit | Single Review
Review by: Victoria Nugent
It may come as surprise to listeners to discover that The Bon Scotts do not specialise in AC/DC covers, but instead ramshackle folk pop tunes that are quite catchy. Now that oft repeated but necessary disclaimer is out of the way, let me tell you about the infectious sounds spun by this Melbourne group with multiple vocalists and a mish mash of instrumentation. |

The Butterfly Effect + Helm @ Pier Live, Frankston – 21 October 2011 | Live Review
Review by Billy Geary
It’s common knowledge that the past year or so hasn’t been the easiest for Brisbane alternative rock darlings The Butterfly Effect, with the band reported to have been close to breaking up on numerous occasions. However, seemingly, everything is back on track for the four-piece with a new album in the works and a tour to celebrate 10 years since the release of their debut EP. On Friday night, the 10 Years Tour rolled into Pier Live, Frankston; which is unfortunately not one of Melbourne’s brightest suburbs. The two burly gentlemen trying to pick a fight with the bouncers on the door only confirmed the suburbs representation. It does beg the question though, why The Butterfly Effects only two Melbourne shows were at least half an hour from the CBD. IRISH LUCK TRIUMPHS AT ARMOR ALL GOLD COAST 600
Mark Winterbottom and Irish international co-driver, Richard Lyons have tapped into the ‘Luck of the Irish’ to win on the final day of the 2011 Armor All Gold Coast 600.
After finishing third in Saturday’s race, the Ford Performance Racing (FPR) pair continued their strong soft tyre form today to charge ahead of polesitters Jamie Whincup and Sebastien Bourdais to claim this afternoon’s final 300km stanza. |
After suffering on the soft tyre compound for the most of the year, yesterday’s podium and today’s race win was a welcome improvement for Winterbottom.
“Winning is fantastic, but doing it on soft tyres is that little bit sweeter,” said Winterbottom.
“We haven’t had the best run on that tyre and the guys have worked incredibly hard, to see them from the podium and to see the smiles on their faces – that’s a lot of hours in the workshop and they really deserved it.”
