A Day on the Green – Jimmy Barnes heads 10 great Aussie artists – November 2010

  JIMMY BARNES –
HEADS 10 GREAT AUSSIE ARTISTS
FOR 10th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT!
SIRROMET WINES, MOUNT COTTON
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 14

A 10th anniversary deserves a very special celebration and that’s exactly what a day on the green has planned with Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes heading up the festivities for this noteworthy occasion.

Although all shows in the upcoming a day on the green 2010/2011 summer season fall under the 10th anniversary banner, promoters Roundhouse Entertainment wanted to pay homage to many of the Aussie artists who have played a part in the event’s 215 concerts to date – and that desire has resulted in four massive birthday concerts in November.

Barnesy’, who has returned to his roots with a brand spanking new rock album ‘Rage and Ruin’, will head up a sensational 10-artist line-up featuring Vanessa Amorosi, Tex Perkins, Mark Seymour, Diesel, Richard Clapton, Dan Sultan, Mahalia Barnes, Michael Spiby and Swanee at Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton on Sunday November 14.

Plans are afoot for the artists to guest in each other’s sets, cook up some tasty duets and provide some surprises and highly memorable musical moments! With a four hour feast of the best Aussie rock on offer and ticket prices starting from $99.50, the a day on the green 10th birthday concerts are guaranteed to be one of the parties of the year!

Congratulations also to Sirromet Wines, who are toasting 10 years of operations in 2010. The family-owned winery has won hundreds of national and international awards during the past decade for its fine wines, and has also become known for its state-of-the-art facilities and dedication to environmentally sustainable wine production. The magnificent Sirromet Wines property is a perfect home for a day on the green.

Due to the amount of artists performing, gates for this very special anniversary concert will open at noon with music running from 12.30pm – 8.00pm.

Promoter Michael Newton said: “Since we started in January 2001, more than 50 Australian artists have played at our events. Supporting local talent has been a huge part of what a day on the green is all about. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than bringing together this great collection of acts with Jimmy headlining and all for under $100.”

And here’s what our two headline artists have to say:
Jimmy Barnes: “I think that a day on the green has been like a breath of fresh air to the Australian music industry. No longer do people have to settle for being crushed up the front of a suburban pub to be able to get a drink and see their favourite bands at the same time. They can now do it in style and sit back in some of the best locations. Eat, drink and listen to the best music in the world. What more could you want?”
Vanessa Amorosi: “Touring is the favourite aspect of my career and the a day on the green shows are always amazing. Huge outdoor gigs, good food and great wine. Not only is there always a great atmosphere but the venues are fabulous places to play. I am honoured to be part of the 10th anniversary celebrations with Jimmy Barnes. Congratulations to a day on the green on its 10th year.”
