“I’ve avoided doing this album for a long time for the simple reason that I’ve already done these songs. I finally said yes ’cause we agreed to do it live at my keyboard player’s house: just set up like an acoustic gig and play. People tend to like the intimacy of that. It has a certain energy and I think it works.”
Intimate doesn’t mean gentle, as the opening salvo of Renéessance makes bracingly clear. Untreated and unaccompanied, Renée Geyer’s full-throttle entry into the reggae classic, Dedicated To The One I Love, serves notice of an album easy on amps but as highly charged as her most soulful work.

The Dreaming is an annual festival celebrating the cultural diversity of indigenous cultures, presenting over 200 high profile indigenous acts from Australia and around the World. Three days and four nights of concerts, theatre, dance, speakers and film, complete with ceremony grounds, traditional healing, art galleries, rituals, fire story circles, and workshops across nine venues and twelve galleries. The festival offers an intimate indigenous experience with an embracing atmosphere described by audiences as awakening, enriching, inspiring and deadly. The Dreaming has become known for presenting acts
of international significance and as an annual ceremony time where people connect, celebrate and are intrigued by the spirit of The Dreaming.

Australia’s Leading Rock & Roll Nostalgia Retro Event….
Wintersun 2009 starts on Friday 29th May and ends with the huge Best of Wintersun Concert on Monday 8th June. Wintersun is Australia’s leading annual Retro Nostalgia Festival. Featuring almost 1500 Hot Rods, Custom and Classic Cars, more than 100 bands and performers, dancing, movies, and competitions. The festival is held in the border coastal towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads on the New South Wales & Queensland border. Many events are free, some are in the streets while others are in the local clubs and shopping centres.

| The Valley Studios will be transformed into a kaleidoscopic extravaganza of music and interactive art Connect 4: PLAY. 4C Arts Collective has joined forces with a collection of Brisbane’s best emerging musicians, visual and performance artists to bring fun and mayhem.
Aural delights will be provided by some great emerging bands. Dot.ay’s highly experimental and creatively satisfying tunes will keep the dance floor buzzing, followed by Hunz, who combines visual art and music together in his unique live shows; Music will be seen; Art will be heard. Combine this with the raw rocking talent, high energy and tremendous tunes of Little Vegas and the Fuzz Parade and 4C has an undeniably stellar line-up. |

All proceeds from Connect 4: PLAY will be donated to Backbone Youth Arts, one of Queensland’s leading Youth Theatre companies. Backbone Youth Arts supports, encourages and grows youth arts in Brisbane and is well known for its annual 2high Festival which provides unique and invaluable experience for festival and event management for young people with a passion for theatre, music and visual arts.
