CALLING ALL CARS “Hold, Hold, Fire” tour – Sep/Oct 2010

  It has finally happened… local Melbourne lads, Calling All Cars, have announced at long last the launch of their “Hold, Hold, Fire” tour.

Although the album was released in March the boys have been touring relentlessly, supporting the likes of Cog, Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, and a little known Australian rock band that go by the name of AC/DC, and have only just had a spare moment to squeeze in some headline shows of their own.

[Photo credit: Stuart Blythe]		   The Northern Brisbane Rollers Brawl Stars play host to one of Victoria’s toughest derby teams, the Geelong Bloody Marys, on Saturday 16 October 2010.

It’s been almost a year since the Northern Brisbane Rollers (NBR) played their first interstate bout. At the ‘Skate of Emergency’ double-header in Adelaide on 27 September 2009 NBR lost to the Adelady Tornadoes by a 40-point margin.

Fast forward to Sydney on 22 May this year – NBR travelled south and played in a rather controversial match against the Sydney Roller Derby League. It was a neck and neck encounter until the dying minutes. Final score: Sydney 106 Brisbane 86.

  Sydney based genre defying MM9 are about to hit the road to celebrate the release of their latest single ‘Let It Take Over’ and tickets are selling fast! The boys are fresh from the national tour with Karnivool as the main support, which won them rave reviews across the country from fans and critics alike.

MM9 is a band whose versatility is matched only by the sheer potency of their stage presence. While maintaining a tireless schedule of touring throughout 2008/2009, MM9 finally released their highly anticipated first full length album ‘The Air Between’ in March, achieving at Top 10 AIR Chart debut. 20 Years of Bloodletting: “The Vampires Rise”

Concrete Blonde will return to Australia to perform and celebrate the music of their classic album ‘Bloodletting’ and other essential songs featured throughout the Concrete Blonde album catalogue which includes; Concrete Blonde, Free, Walking In London and Mexican Moon.

From the release of their eponymous album back in 1986, the music of Concrete Blonde gained a loyal audience in Australia with their popularity increasing with the release of each album and subsequent tours. In June 1990 the track ‘Joey’ from the album ‘Bloodletting’ found them at the top of the Australian singles chart; confirming them as one of the favourite touring acts of that year and ensuring future and frequent tours of Australia for the following fifteen years.   Amy Meredith are excited to announce details of their headline RESTLESS TOUR, after what has an been an incredible start to 2010. The tour takes in 18 dates across Australia this September and October, and comes off the back of huge chart success with their smash hit single Lying and debut album Restless.

The band released their debut album Restless last week, where it debuted on the national ARIA charts at #8, following Lying smashing into the Top Ten of the ARIA singles chart. They will soon be supporting Aussie rockers Grinspoon around the country, before heading out as headliners on their own tour to take

Since the recent release of their debut record, Innerspeaker, there’s been no rest for the Perth four-piece, who walked off the stage of their last Australian show and onto a jetplane bound for the states.

In the US they supported MGMT at a slew of sold out shows everywhere from Santa Cruz to Salt Lake City and played sold out headline shows of their own in NYC, LA and Chicago.

Sydney DJ Triky Releases Two New Studio Albums

  Sydney dance DJ Triky has released two new albums, Electric and Filtered.

Electric is the much anticipated third full length album from Triky. The 12 track album carries a high energy sound and is similar to the previous two releases, Tweaked and Permanent Damage, yet goes further with a thumpin’ new set of bass lines and is packed full of FX. With a wide range of tracks, there’s something on here for every dance lover.

Filtered is an exploration in BPM with tracks ranging from 140 to 150 BPM. It’s an innovative 13-track album which takes Triky in a whole new direction.

TITANIC: THE ARTEFACT EXHIBITION

SEASON EXTENDED TO MEET DEMAND, MUST CLOSE SUNDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2010!

Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition’s stay in Melbourne will now be extended until Sunday 7 November to meet overwhelming public demand.

The exhibition was originally due to close on Sunday 17 October, but following repeated sold out sessions and high public interest, the exhibition will now remain open for a further three weeks.

This is in addition to the previously announced extended opening hours on Saturdays. The exhibition is open late on Thursday and Saturday nights until 9.00pm with the last session commencing at 7.45pm.
