High On Fire announce Australian Tour | July 2014 **Supports Announced**

High On Fire
Life is noise is pleased to announce the support acts for High On Fire’s upcoming Australian tour in July.

For the first Brisbane show on July 16 at Crowbar, prepare for the bluesy stoner jams of riff enthusiasts SHELLFIN who’ll be taking a break from the studio to once again provide support for High on Fire. Joining them will be the mighty SMOKE: part Sabbath, part Hendrix, all killer, all the time.

For the second Brisbane show on July 17 at Crowbar, support comes from the stoner rhythms of LIZZARD WIZZARD – the soundtrack to a nervous breakdown in slow motion. But first: dig on the apocalyptic fuzz of doom lords, ZODIAC.

BOUND FOR RUIN | ‘Victim To Villain’ Tour | June/July 2014 *UPDATED*

bound for ruinBrisbane’s hardcore champs, Bound for Ruin are taking one last run around the country with their brand new single, From Victim to Villain. Releasing the track as a single, signals the last release from their album “Oblivion” before they move into new album recording phase. They are taking the single all around the country, taking in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA in a round-the-country run that would usually test the mettle (metal?) of many a band. They take in iconic venues around the country such as Crowbar in Brisbane, the Cooly at the Gold Coast, Bald Faced Stag in Sydney and The Basement in Canberra.

Duet Productions Presents
suzi
“I have been touring in Australia regularly since 1974, and have actually lost count of how many times I have been here, but I think this tour will be number 29. It is my second home and I love it dearly. This year I celebrated my 50th year in the business and it just felt like the right time to take my final bow. It’s a daunting prospect and one I am preparing seriously for. I want this to be a night to remember in every way….tears, laughter and lots of rock and roll. This has been my life. Nobody in the world rocks as hard as the Aussies….and from me that’s what they’re gonna get….foot on the gas and go. So looking forward to this tour” ~ Suzi Quatro

swanneeWhen John Swan sings, “I’ve travelled far … seen it all … had my share of tears”, you know they’re not throwaway lines. He’s lived it.

Swanee has led a remarkable rock ’n’ roll life. Some kids dream of running away to join the circus. When Swanee was 13, he ran away with a rock group, moving from Adelaide to Melbourne with a band called Happiness.

John Swan has been making music ever since, though it’s been a bittersweet journey. He’s topped the charts, had some great times, but also battled drug and alcohol problems. If you want to understand Swanee’s story, all you have to do is listen to his new album, One Day At A Time.

Live Review | The Bronx + High Tension + Born Lion @ The Metro Theatre, Sydney – June 20, 2014

Review by Scott Singh
bronx_4719-LFriday night at The Metro Theatre showcased a diverse range of acts that provided mixed vibes of the rock, which left everyone with coarse voices and drained bodies. The trio of bands who performed each owned their set and left a distinct mark on the crowd, showing off their signature sounds.

Born Lion were first to take the stage. This local band already had a gathering of local support waiting to rock along with these party goers. Stylised as harsh rockers with dynamic stage chemistry, their faithful head-bangers took the front of the crowd to feed off the energy that was released by the band.

Live Review: The Beatle Boys @ State Theatre, Sydney – June 21, 2014

By Natalie Salvo
Beatle BoysIt was fifty years ago today that Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play. Not quite, but it has been that long since The Beatles did their first and only tour of Australia. The tribute band, The Beatle Boys would recreate their 1964 set as well as play another full set of classics, favourites and some obscure songs at the State Theatre. It proved to be one fun night and respectful tribute to the Fab Four.

The first act went for just 35 minutes but this was how long a headline act would typically perform for in 1964. The concert started with video containing black and white archive footage from the Australian tour when Beatlemania was in full force. From there, The Beatle Boys (John Kater as Paul, Christopher Lee Frazer as John, Rodney Auld as George and Michael Brady as Ringo) launched into the chugging pop of “I Saw Her Standing There”.
