Where the Devil would like to officially welcome its newest member to the family, Hamish Unahi. Normally known as a monster on the six- and seven-string in both Take My Soul and Faith in Lies, Hamish will be picking up a bass in his new position.
“I used to play bass back in the day for a punk band and a progressive rock band,” Hamish says. “It’s been a while, but I’ve been locked in my studio for a couple of weeks getting the low-end skills sharp again.”
Hamish brings a ton of experience and presence to the band and the guys can’t wait to see what the future holds with the newly-completed line up. Hamish says, “I’m super stoked to be joining Where the Devil as its new bass man. The boys have welcomed me with open arms and I’m looking forward to ripping up stages across our great land.
“Where the Devil has a bright future in the metal scene, as far as I’m concerned. The band has some great songs and the guys have a great attitude and I’m looking forward to being part of their metal journey. See you at a show soon… PS: will work for beer!”
Guitarist Ben Hosking has been following Hamish’s progress over the years and is excited about now being in a band with him. “I first noticed Hamish when he was in Anamata,” he says. “I really dug what they were doing and was blown away by Take My Soul… then he came out with Faith in Lies! Oh man. To have that kind of talent and passion wanting to join us is so exciting and we’re stoked to have him on board.”
After battling COVID lockdowns and venue restrictions for two years, 2022 is finally set to be ‘The Year of the Devil’. The band has some great support slots already booked, as well as its first interstate shows that includes a spot on the Metal Health festival line up in Brisbane next April. Where the Devil’s fifth single, ‘Reaching’, hit streaming services on December 10, garnering radio play across the globe including multiple spins on The Faction and Andrew Haug Radio.
