Washington – The Tour Of Laughter & Forgetting – April/May 2011 [Tour News]

In October last year, Megan Washington performed a stunning solo set at a small club in Paris, La Boule Noire. Also on the bill that evening was an emerging American artist named Lissie. Those lucky enough to have been present witnessed the coming together of two incredible female talents at a special point in both their careers. The magic was palpable. Bonding over a rolled cigarette and a drink (or two), the girls talked around the idea of sharing a stage again whenever their crazy schedules would permit.

THE TOUR OF LAUGHTER & FORGETTING will deliver on that Parisian promise, as WASHINGTON invites Lissie to join her as a very special guest across the not-to-be-missed, Australian shows.

It’s hard to believe that the debut WASHINGTON album, “I Believe You Liar”, was only released 6 months ago. Since then the album has been certified Platinum and Megan Washington has become a household name – as much for her incredible live reputation, as winning dual ARIA Awards (Female and Breakthrough Artist Of The Year). Following their record-breaking album tour last winter, this will be WASHINGTON’S only headline tour of 2011, before heading overseas to commence touring in support of international releases.

Illinois-born Lissie will perform in Australia for the first time and arrives on the heels of breakthrough UK and US theatre tours where reviewers often compare her to a young Linda Rondstadt. Like WASHINGTON, Lissie is fast gaining a reputation as one of the world’s most exciting female singer/songwriters. With both artists performing music from their brilliant debut albums, this will be an event more than a regular tour.

As if the WASHINGTON / Lissie bill is not mouth-watering enough, Sydney’s ultra-cool Deep Sea Arcade will join the tour for all East Coast dates.
