Tashi returns to Brisbane Powerhouse June-July 2010

Tashi has done it again! Up to his old tricks and adventures, Tashi comes up against some of his biggest challenges in Tashi, the Swan and the Dragon and Tashi and the Big Stinker. Imaginary Theatre brings the magic of this lovable character back to life once again at Brisbane Powerhouse from 29 June – 12 July 2010 for Powerkidz.

Back by popular demand, Brisbane-based children’s theatre company Imaginary Theatre bring energy and imagination to these much loved stories by writer Anna Fienberg. Each story is a different mini adventure for Tashi and his audience of 4 – 8 year olds.

If you have not yet been whisked into Tashi’s magical world of storytelling, you have been missing out! A favourite of Australian kids, Tashi’s stories draw on a wide range of traditional tales from all over the world. The stories are funny, exciting, and sometimes spooky, have a good message about right and wrong, and really show how joyful storytelling can be. Well…Tashi does tell the best stories ever!

Kids and parents will hear about how Tashi arrived here in Australia, in the very first story of the series Tashi, the Swan and the Dragon. Dive into a magical world of Swans, Warlords and Dragons where there are always huge and unexpected problems, but none that are ever to big to be solved with a good dose of humour, ingenuity and wit.

In Tashi and the Big Stinker you can join Tashi on a gigantic journey to save his village from the greedy appetite of a very hungry giant. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you eat too many Dragon Eggs, this hilarious take of tricks, traps and triumphs will certainly give you the answer.

Imaginary Theatre has performed their collection of Tashi stories in seasons at the Brisbane Powerhouse since 2004. In 2007, their performances were even attended by writer Anna Fienberg herself! Company member Thom Browning is delighted that Tashi has continued to inspire and excite audiences in Brisbane.

“The popularity of the Tashi performances has definitely grown over time, and our audiences continue to turn up in droves to check out the latest stories. It is just phenomenal that we have been able to stage Tashi at Brisbane Powerhouse on a regular basis, as we have developed a large group of very loyal fans, as well as continually having a stream of new audiences come through.”
