line-up, Rock ‘n’ roll Dancing lessons and more!
Sydney Rock ‘n’ Roll & Alternative Market is gearing up for its massive Christmas edition with over 100 traders on site it’s a Christmas shopping treasure trove with a huge entertainment line-up to entertain you throughout the day.
You’ll find a vast array of stalls selling quality unique goods including but not limited to; rock ‘n’ roll, alternative and vintage clothing, jewellery, accessories, posters, cult DVDs, tattoo art, homewares, art, collectables, retro hair and make-up stylists a traditional barber plus a Massive Record Fair presented by Revolve Records – Erskineville and Egg Records – Newtown. Vinyl vultures can sift through more than 50,000 LPs and 45s covering alternative, punk, metal, rockabilly, blues, jazz, country, reggae, club, hip hop and every other genre since the dawn of rock ‘n’ roll its packed with bargains and rare gems.
You’ll find a café, bars, international food, a vintage and classic vehicle display, kids’ outdoor activities. The Christmas edition entertainment line-up features;
Six Ft Hick – Noted for the unpredictable antics of its two singers, brothers Geoff and Ben Corbett and so much more this Swamp Rock act from Brisbane is simply not to be missed. It’s been quite some time since “the Hick” have ventured to Sydney and we are thrilled to have them appear exclusively at this event.
Spurs for Jesus – A little bit country & a lot rock ‘n’ roll spiced up with a few surprise flavours such as Rockabilly, Gospel, Swing, Tex-Mex, and more Spurs love a big shindig and have graced the stage at the market more times than one – due to popular demand we have asked them back again.
Hanks Jalopy Demons – with their expert renditions of unadulterated Rock-a-billy music, late-50s garage, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Hillbilly Hanks Jalopy Demons will certainly have you hitting the dance floor they will be playing two big sets this time around.
Plus DJs – Rod Almighty, The Crimplenes, Solid Gold Hell and Brian. Plus MCs – Wolfman Dan & the Rockabilly Rhino.
Plus – Rock ‘n’ Roll Dancing Classes – If you’ve always wanted to give Rock ‘n’ Roll dancing a try, there’ll be a class for beginners between 10.30 and 11.30am. Taught by leading rock ‘n’ roll dance instructors, Bruce Elder and Peta Parnell, it’s just $10 per class, which includes entry to the market. No need to bring a dance partner – just plenty of energy and your best dancing shoes! Entry to the Sydney Rock ‘n’ Roll & Alternative Market is $5, with kids under 12 FREE.
