Single Review : Vega – “Grit Your Teeth”

Review by Peter Coates – www.facebook.com/InsideEdgePhotography

British rock band VEGA will release their new album Grit Your Teeth on Friday 12th June 2020 via Frontier Records.  Band members Nick Workman, Tom Martin, James Martin, Marcus Thurston, Hutch and Mikey Kew have a rich history; including stints with UK rock bands Kick, Sugartown and Paul Dianno, but it was their meeting of musical minds back in 2009 that gave the rock-genre one of the finest releases of that year in the form of their debut album, Kiss Of Life.

The first single and title track Grit Your Teeth was released Friday March 20th and is available digitally from Apple Music, Amazon Music and Spotify.  This song is very much about David and Goliath, no pain/no gain and not giving a shit about the naysayers.   The song opens up with a funky riff that slides into a Leppard-esque kicking beat, overlaid with some old-school Bon Jovi harmony vocals and a rip-snorting chorus, including a cool Gospel, “Lay Your Hands on Me” vibe.   Nick Workman has one of the cleanest voices in modern melodic rock, right up there alongside the likes of Eclipse, H.E.A.T. FM and Collateral, so if any of those bands are up your street, give VEGA a try!

Buckle up and hold tight, VEGA are back with the album of their career. “Grit Your Teeth” will take you to screaming highs and gritty lows. It’ll keep you coming back for more.
