The bill for Odyssey NYE ’09 continues to grow from strength to strength following the announcement of the second round lineup which includes Grinspoon, Bliss n Eso, Phrase, Malente and Ministry of Sound’s latest spinning sensation, Sam La More, with many more to still to be announced.
This collection of rock, dance and hip hop artists compliment an already turbo-charged lineup including headline act Jet, Eskimo Joe and The Butterfly Effect, making Odyssey NYE ’09, at its new home of Carrara Sports Complex on the Gold Coast, its biggest party to date.
Grinspoon’s 2007 album release Alibis & Other Lies has the band nominated in various categories at this weekend’s ARIA awards including Album of the Year, Best Group and Best Rock release.
Also up for an ARIA nomination, in the urban category, are Aussie hip hop artists Bliss n Eso for their album Flying Colours. The group have been busy this year selling out shows across the country with fellow Aussie hip hop artist Phrase, who is releasing his album Clockwork later this month.
On the dance stage, German DJ Malente will be mixing tracks that have secured his spot in the European summer touring circuit and saw him voted “Top National Act of the German Club Charts”, as voted by Germany’s Club DJs.
No stranger to the Australian music festival scene after his critically acclaimed performance at Freedom Festival in Sydney earlier this year, Malente is set to kick off the first show of his Australian tour at Odyssey NYE ’09 making this one performance you can’t afford to miss.
Also performing on the dance stage, hot on the heels of the huge success of Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide to Spring 2008, is Sam La More to showcase the skills that rightly earned him the coveted opportunity to mix the gold selling record with Hook n Sling.
NYE revellers can expect the same great value as offered in previous years, with its all-inclusive ticket including drinks, fireworks and live entertainment. A selection of amusement rides will also be on offer for those daring enough.
Convenient transport options are also available to take out the guess work for patrons travelling to and from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
With the added bonus of a fresh new setting, this all-star lineup event will see Carrara Sports Complex play host to what is fast becoming Queensland’s biggest NYE party, and by far Odyssey’s finest lineup yet.
