Big Deal – ‘Always Boys’ (Video Clip)

Following on from last year’s “June Gloom” LP, London duo Big Deal have unveiled their latest single ‘Always Boys’

With the heady influences of the 90′s alt-rock scene worn on their sleeves, Big Deal draw fans from listeners to critics alike with their stripped back LP “Lights Out”. Following up with 2013′s “June Gloom” it was clear Big Deal had a sound that was filled with intimacy both lyrically and musically – the work of a duo about to evolve into a great band – and it turns out that moment arrived sooner than anyone expected.

Flickering between murky pop and bedroom folk, Big Deal have a sound all of their own, and their originality is clear on the latest single ‘Always Boys’. The boy-girl dynamic was made for dream-pop with all its tender uncertainty. Sharing the lead, KC Underwood and Alice Costelloe weave their textured vocals into an alluring instrument – the call and response hooks to the harmonising refrain shine – showcased against the new full-band arrangements. Completed by a nonchalant chorus that sees Costelloe bemoaning her attraction to “boys that play guitar”, with it’s infectious melancholy, set to a backdrop of the slow burning band ‘Always Boys’ is the perfect soundtrack to a late night drive with the windows wound down and the stereo as loud as it goes.

As well as a tempting teaser for their forthcoming EP ‘Sakura’.

‘Always Boys’ is available digitally now. Listen here.
